Oldřich “PR” Nový has turned out to be exactly the piece the German organization was missing when it signed him. His form still swings between extremes, but at the ongoing ESL Pro League the 18-year-old Czech picked the perfect moment to hit his peak. MOUZ got through the swiss stage without dropping a single map, and PR saved his best performance for the play-off.
FURIA ran into a demon on Nuke and Inferno
The quarterfinal was a showcase of what PR looks like when everything clicks. FURIA, still waiting for any kind of result since the Major final, were the ones who paid the bill. On Nuke he dominated the CT side, on Inferno he flipped the switch and shredded the opposition on attack. MOUZ closed the series out 13:11 and 13:6, and PR finished as the best-rated player on both maps on the way to the semifinals.
MOUZ themselves pushed his numbers out on social media:
Team Spirit are waiting tonight at 19:00
From here the difficulty curve goes straight up. Team Spirit stumbled twice in the swiss stage, and that one detail turned the bottom half of the bracket into a nightmare – four top 5 teams crammed into a single side of the draw. On Friday Spirit knocked out the reigning world champions from Falcons, and MOUZ are next on their list. The match for a spot in the final starts at 19:00.
Vitality got the comfortable half of the bracket
The top half looks like it was drawn specifically for Team Vitality. They opened the play-off with a calm win over PARIVISION and they kick off the semifinal program at 15:45 against Aurora, where they are clear favorites once again. Aurora are carrying momentum of their own, though – they booked their semifinal spot by taking down 1win, a team that had been unbeaten up to that point. We also wrote about 1win in our piece on SINNERS and Nemesis.
