AION 2 server transfer: a Daeva flying over the islands of Atreia

AION 2 (global): Server Transfers Are Free. What Moves, What Stays and When the Window Opens

Picked a server in a hurry at launch and your friends ended up somewhere else? From Wednesday, October 14, 2026 the global version of AION 2 opens server transfers. NCSOFT offers this round for free, but with conditions worth reading first: one transfer per account, Server Storage stays behind, you have to leave your Legion, and pets and skins travel with the characters you move, so any alts you leave at home lose them. Here is everything the official notice says and what to do before you press the button.

Transfer windows and dates

You cannot order a transfer at any time. NCSOFT split the servers into two waves and every region also got daily windows. For Europe it looks like this:

  • Early Access servers: from the maintenance on Wednesday, October 14 until the maintenance on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. This week only moves between EA servers.
  • Launch servers (tagged New): from the maintenance on October 21 until the maintenance on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The second week only moves between launch servers.
  • Daily windows for Europe: 12:00 to 16:00 and 18:00 to 22:00 CEST. On launch day NCSOFT shortened the first window to 13:00 to 16:00.
  • Server capacity: every server has a limit on outgoing and incoming transfers. The numbers refresh every hour on the hour. If the destination is full, the game simply does not offer it and you try another window.

Outside a window the shop only shows a message that the transfer is unavailable, even when you meet every other requirement. NCSOFT lists this as the first question in its Q&A because it is the most common reason the button stays grey.

Two fixed rules on top: transfers stay within the same faction and within the same region. Elyos cannot move to an Asmodian server and a European server cannot move to an American one. An Early Access server only leads to another Early Access server. Moving between EA and New servers is expected only after the season ends in December.

What it costs

  • Base fee: 0 Quna, once per account for the whole period.
  • Per character: 0 Quna. There is no limit on the number of characters in one transfer, but they all have to be on the same server and go to the same destination.
  • Extra slot: 1,000 Quna for every character slot missing on the destination server.

The example straight from the notice: you move six characters, the destination has four free slots, you pay 2,000 Quna for two slots. Slots you bought and filled on the old server stay there and do not count on the destination. If you select more characters than the destination can ever expand to, the transfer does not go through. What Quna costs and how to get it without paying is covered in our breakdown of AION 2 pricing and the cash shop.

The key word is once. The transfer is one per account, not per character. Whatever you do not take now stays on the old server until the next round. NCSOFT says the service may return in the same or similar form, but gave no date.

What a character has to meet

The purchase button in the shop activates only once every selected character meets all of these:

  • is level 10 or higher;
  • is standing in a village, not in the Abyss, a Spacetime Rift or a dungeon;
  • is not in a Legion and has no pending Legion application;
  • has no active Duty mission;
  • has nothing unclaimed: no items listed on the Market, no uncollected sale proceeds, an empty Shop Storage (including the Founder’s Pack) and an empty mailbox.

The Legion rule is the one that hurts in practice. You have to leave before ordering and your new Legion on the destination server has to accept you again. If you lead a Legion, hand over leadership before you leave. How Legions work in AION 2 is covered in our Legion guide.

What transfers with the character

The list is long and the good news is that practically the whole character travels with you:

  • The character with everything in the Cube (inventory) and Character Storage including purchased storage slots, Kina from both places, quests, skills and stigmas, Daevanion, Monolith and collected Empyrean Traces, Pantheon, Arcana, Wings, Theostones, Cube and Content tickets.
  • Quna and Mileage are added to what you already hold on the destination. The same goes for Abyss Points.
  • Membership merges with any membership on the destination and is removed from the old server. The Daeva Pass moves with its progress intact.
  • Pets, Closet skins, titles and achievements merge with what you have on the destination.
  • Season points from Transcendence, Nightmare, Ascension Trial, Abyss and Arena, completed Season Missions, Supply Requests, remaining Cube Reward counts and unused Abyss time.
  • Friends and Blocked lists stay. Your friends see your new name.
  • Purchase limits tied to the character come along. For server-based limits the higher of the two values applies, so a transfer does not unlock extra purchases.

What does not transfer or changes

  • Server Storage: neither items nor Kina in it move. Put everything you want on the new server into the Cube or Character Storage before transferring. On the destination you only get the higher number of expanded Server Storage slots from the two servers.
  • Character name: after the transfer it always becomes @TemporaryName and you set a new one at first login. If someone on the destination already uses your old name, you do not get it back.
  • Pets, skins, titles and achievements disappear from the old server. They are server-bound and move as a whole. If you transfer only some characters, the ones left behind can no longer equip pets or skins.
  • Duplicate pets and skins: if you own the same special pet on the destination, you keep one and receive a Pet Reward Ticket for a refund through Customer Support. A duplicate non-customizable skin gives a Skin (Single) Reward Ticket for the 300 Quna item in the shop. Both tickets are valid only until the maintenance on November 25, 2026.
  • Genus Insight: you choose the progress from either the old or the destination server. The old one resets either way.
  • Character slots bought on the old server stay there.
  • The mail block list does not transfer. Styles in the Style Shop can still be downloaded and settled, but keep the original creator name and server.
  • Abyss Corridor: if nobody captured it on the destination server, you cannot enter it even with time left.

How to transfer step by step

  • Empty Server Storage, collect your mail, pull your Market listings and claim Shop Storage.
  • Finish or cancel Duty missions and leave your Legion.
  • Stand in a village and open Shop → Server Transfer in the game.
  • Pick the destination server and the characters. If slots are missing, the game offers to buy them at 1,000 Quna each.
  • Confirm. The game returns you to the title screen and the account cannot log in while the transfer runs. It takes at least a minute, longer under load. On the PURPLE platform you get a push notification when it is done.
  • After logging in, set a new name and choose your Genus Insight.

The transfer is irreversible. Once processed, it cannot be undone, not even through support.

What this means for you

Dungeons, Expeditions and Transcendence are cross-server and you play them with anyone in Europe. Only the Abyss, Arena, Battlefield and Legions are tied to a server. If you want a shared Legion and PvP with your friends, the transfer makes sense. If you only run dungeons together, you do not need to move at all.

Popular servers can hit their incoming limit in the first windows. Try the evening window from 18:00 and keep an eye on the hourly refresh. Players on New servers from the free-to-play launch wait for the second week and cannot reach Early Access servers in this round anyway. Which faction and server our community plays on, and how to join a Legion, is discussed on the GamersTogether Discord, where AION 2 has its own channel.

And if you are moving to a new Legion, show up in style: our shop has AION 2 merch with Elyos and Asmodian designs.

FAQ

How much does a server transfer cost in AION 2?

Nothing in the October 2026 round. The base fee and the per-character fee are both 0 Quna. You only pay 1,000 Quna for every character slot missing on the destination server.

Does the whole account move or just one character?

You pick specific characters. There is no limit on how many, but they all have to be on the same server and go to the same destination. The transfer is one per account for the whole period, whatever you leave behind stays.

When can I order the transfer?

Early Access servers from October 14 to 21, 2026, launch servers from October 21 to 28. In Europe you can order daily from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00 CEST. On launch day the first window was shortened to 13:00 to 16:00.

What does not transfer?

Items and Kina in Server Storage, purchased character slots and the mail block list. Pets, skins, titles and achievements travel with the character but vanish from the old server, so characters left there can no longer use them.

Do I have to leave my Legion?

Yes. A character in a Legion or with a pending application cannot order a transfer. Leave before buying and get accepted again on the new server.

Can I move to a server where I already have a character?

Yes, as long as there are enough free slots. Missing slots can be bought during the order at 1,000 Quna each. The incoming limits of the server apply in this case too.

Can I undo a transfer?

No. A completed transfer cannot be cancelled or reverted. You get your old character name back only if nobody on the destination server has it.
