AION 2 Legion: How to Create and Run a Guild

AION 2 Legion: How to Create and Run a Guild

Guilds in AION 2 are called Legions. You won’t see the word “guild” anywhere in the game. A single Legion holds up to 128 players from the same faction and the same server, creating one costs 100,000 Kinah, and its base isn’t a room in a menu but a spaceship hovering above the open world.

This guide is about AION 2. It does not cover the original AION from 2009 or the mobile turn-based game Aion: Legions of War. Both have their own Legion systems with completely different numbers. That trio is exactly why searching for guilds in AION 2 gives you answers that don’t apply to this game.

A quick note on terms so you don’t get lost: throughout this article we use Legion as the in-game term and guild as the everyday word you most likely searched for. They are the same thing. The data below comes from the Korean and Taiwanese version, which has been live since 19 November 2025 and received the Chapter 1 update on 1 July 2026.

The key points in five bullets

  • A guild in AION 2 is called a Legion. Search for “aion 2 guild” and you’ll find recruitment ads; search for “aion 2 legion” and you’ll find guides.
  • The limit is 128 members, all from the same faction and the same server. In the original AION it was 40.
  • Creating one: level 5, a name of up to 12 characters, a fee of 100,000 Kinah. You can manage all of it within your first hours of play.
  • The base is a spaceship you can actually fly to. It has a damage meter, crafting NPCs, merchants and storage; renting it comes to roughly 1,000,000 Kinah a month.
  • A Legion is not a Party, Force or Sanctuary. These are four different groups with limits of 128 / 5 / 20 / 10, and they are the ones people mix up most often.

Legion, not guild, and why it matters

In AION 2, guilds are called Legions. In its 16 July 2026 guide to the Legion system, MMOExp sums it up with the line “In Aion 2, Legions function as the equivalent of guilds in other MMORPGs”. u4n.com says the same in its 31 March 2026 article, and so does the translation of the official Korean patch notes, which mention the Legion Hideout feature and the Legion info window.

The term is inherited from the original AION, where guilds had the same name. Mechanically, though, it is a different system, and that is the source of most of the misunderstandings going around.

The practical impact is bigger than it looks. Type “aion 2 guild” into a search engine and you get recruitment posts, discussion threads and roster management tools. Type “aion 2 legion” and you get actual guides. One word decides whether you find the answer or not.

Then there’s a trap the search engine spreads on its own. Ask how to join a guild in AION 2 and it quotes the wiki of Aion: Legions of War, a 2019 mobile turn-based game that shares nothing with AION 2 except the name. That’s where the line about a limit of 50 players comes from. In AION 2 the limit is 128.

How to create a Legion, step by step

Creating a Legion takes a few minutes and one fee. According to MMOExp’s description from 16 July 2026, the process looks like this:

  1. Reach level 5. Until then the create button doesn’t work.
  2. Open the Legion menu in the game interface.
  3. Select Create Legion.
  4. Enter a name of up to 12 characters.
  5. Write a short introduction. It’s the only thing players browsing Legions in the search will see about you.
  6. Set the recruitment mode: open to everyone, by request, or by password. The last option is handy for communities that recruit outside the game via Discord. On bigger servers, a Discord security bot against spam from stolen accounts comes in useful.
  7. Pay 100,000 Kinah. That creates the Legion.

Twelve characters isn’t much, and it catches people off guard. Plenty of the names you come up with won’t fit, and you won’t be able to simply rewrite the name later. It pays to have two or three options thought through in advance, before you even reach that screen.

Level 5 is not an obstacle. It’s a threshold you cross within your first hour in AION 2; for Elyos, it’s also exactly where the ascension to Daeva happens. What the rest of the climb looks like is summed up in the AION 2 leveling guide.

Leaving a Legion is just as easy. The option sits in the Legion menu, in the membership management section at the very bottom of the page. After leaving, you can find another Legion or create your own. The fact that someone made a standalone tutorial video for this one click shows that people really do look for it.

You obviously have to earn the 100,000 Kinah fee first. Where currency comes from in AION 2 and what daily caps the game has is covered in the article on Kinah and the AION 2 economy.

What a Legion costs and what you get for it

Creating one costs 100,000 Kinah; running your own base costs roughly 1,000,000 Kinah a month. Both numbers come from the KR/TW version, and they are also the only two numbers on Legion pricing that can be found at all.

ItemPriceHow oftenRequired?
Creating a Legion100,000 Kinahone-timeyes
Base rental (ship)roughly 1,000,000 Kinahmonthlyno
Joining someone else’s Legionfree

The sources contradict each other on how those two amounts are split. MMOExp writes that creation costs 100,000 Kinah and maintaining the base about a million a month. u4n.com, on the other hand, gives the million as the price for renting the ship itself and doesn’t mention a creation fee at all. So the numbers match, they’re just assigned differently, and neither source says where it got them. Treat the order of items in the table as likely, not confirmed.

On its own, that means little until you know how much you can earn. The Korean patch notes from 10 December 2025 cut the daily Kinah earning cap from two million to 1,000,000 per character, and once you hit it, loot stops dropping too. Creating a Legion therefore costs a tenth of one player’s maximum day of play. Running the base costs one such day per month, split among up to 128 people.

In practice, that means a Legion is cheap and the base is a shared investment. A newcomer who wants to create a Legion for five friends can afford it before finishing the starting region. The ship is in another league, but not out of reach. Just don’t count on it in the first week.

Watch out for numbers from the original AION. The fees of 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000, 5,000,000 and 25,000,000 Kinah for raising a Legion to a higher level, which you’ll find on older wikis, belong to the 2009 game. AION 2 has no Legion levels, so that payment ladder doesn’t exist in it.

128 members, and why they’re all from the same faction and server

A single Legion holds 128 players. Two independent sources agree on this, MMOExp and u4n.com, and the latter also points out that it’s an increase from the 40 members in the original AION.

A Legion can only bring together players of the same faction and the same server. MMOExp puts it clearly: every Legion belongs exclusively to either the Elyos or the Asmodians. You can’t mix either one. Besides founding a legion, you can dress your whole crew the same way – the GamersTogether shop has AION 2 merch waiting.

That leads to a decision you make before you even realize it. In AION 2 you pick your faction right at character creation, the choice is permanent, and Elyos and Asmodians have separate starting regions. If you choose differently from your friends, you won’t play with them, and joining their Legion won’t fix that. What sets the two sides apart is covered in the article on the Elyos and Asmodian factions.

The server is the other half of the same problem. Agree on both faction and server with the people you want to play with in advance, not once you’re in the game. The game doesn’t promise character transfers between servers at launch.

AION 2 has no alliances between Legions and no political systems. Two friendly Legions can’t be formally linked; large organized content is handled by arrangement, not through the game interface. It’s a simplification compared to older MMOs, not a missing feature.

Party, Force, Sanctuary, Legion: four groups that get mixed up

A Legion is a community, not a combat group. You go into battle in a Party, a Force or a ten-player Sanctuary, and it’s exactly this set of four numbers that confuses newcomers the most.

GroupMax playersWhat it’s for
Party (group)5The basic group; Expedition and Transcendence dungeons
Sanctuary10A dungeon type for two parties
Force20A layer above parties for large content
Legion (guild)128The community the groups are drawn from

The source is the official Korean Chapter 1 patch notes from 1 July 2026 as translated by AION2 Hub: Party size went up to 5 and Force to 20, Expedition and Transcendence became five-player content and Sanctuary ten-player. The same update also introduced a 5v5 Co-op Arena and a 10v10 Battleground.

The numbers you’ll find elsewhere are mostly outdated. Search engines still serve “4” (the party size before Chapter 1) and “eight players”, and u4n.com even lists “16-player groups” for AION 2, which matches none of the current values. That’s exactly why this overview exists.

The practical takeaway: for a regular dungeon you need four more people, not twenty. A 128-member Legion isn’t a requirement to play; it’s a pool from which five-player parties come together faster. Which dungeons and roles the game requires is summed up in the AION 2 dungeon overview; which classes to put in a party is covered in the global version class overview.

Large-scale PvP works differently: there, organization counts for more than the number of names on the roster. What the game’s main PvP zone looks like is described in the article on the Abyss and PvP.

The Legion base is a spaceship (and you can fly to it)

Once the rent is paid, your Legion’s spaceship appears above the open-world map. MMOExp writes that it is “not just a menu interface but a real physical area players can visit”. It’s the most striking thing about the whole system.

What you’ll find on the ship:

  • A damage meter (DPS meter), a tool for testing how much damage your character really deals. A detail that advanced players care about.
  • Crafting NPCs, merchants and storage in one place, so there’s no more running around town.
  • A space for meeting up and forming groups before an event.

How to get there: regular merchants in the world sell return scrolls that teleport you straight to the base. Flying itself is a full-fledged way of moving around the world in AION 2, not just an effect; everything it’s used for is covered in the article on wings and flying.

The crafting stations at the base make sense. Crafting in AION 2 depends on your choice of profession and on materials you have to gather yourself; what’s worth it and what isn’t is summed up in the guide to crafting and professions.

Chapter 1 added so-called Legion Hideouts. According to the translation of the official patch notes from 1 July 2026, they are located in Eltnen and Morheim, the rental status and its extension are shared between a Legion’s hideouts in a given region, and portals connect the individual hideouts. Both regions are described in the article on Morheim and Eltnen.

How the ship and the hideouts relate can’t be determined from the available sources. Either they are two different things, the ship as the main seat and the hideouts as regional branches, or two different translations of the same feature. No source says so directly, and we’re not going to guess.

Roles and permissions in a Legion

A new member joins as a rank-and-file soldier. Leadership can promote them to elite officer and set individual permissions in the authority settings menu. The system is simple and doesn’t have dozens of tiers like guilds in other MMOs.

One permission is worth remembering: only an officer with the right to do so can purchase the base. If you’re creating a Legion and want to delegate, think about this before the money is pooled.

A complete list of ranks, however, can’t be found. Each source says something different and none lists them all. So stick with the pair “regular member and officer” and expect a more detailed breakdown only once the global client shows it.

There are two ways into a Legion: a direct invite from someone inside, or through the Legion search right in the game. According to u4n.com, well-run Legions set recruitment to “Request to Join” so leadership can review new members first.

What a Legion in AION 2 doesn’t have (so don’t look for it)

Veterans of the original AION will be a bit lost here at first. Most of what made a Legion a long-term project is missing in AION 2, and none of the available patch notes mention it even as a plan.

Why we put it this bluntly: the original AION wiki ranks among the top results for English Legion queries and describes exactly these mechanics. Anyone who follows it will look in the game for features that aren’t there.

It’s claimed that this is the developers’ intent, but it can’t be proven. The phrase about a “deliberately simpler” system comes from a single source that we couldn’t verify. So we only state the observed situation: Legion levels and contribution points don’t appear in any of the available patch notes.

The framing that sums it up best: a Legion in AION 2 isn’t a project you build. It’s a list of people you play with, and a ship where you meet them.

How to choose a good Legion

With a 128-member limit, it’s easy to end up in a Legion where nobody plays. Size is the least telling of all the indicators. Five criteria that work better:

  1. Activity over size. Ask how many people are online in the evening, not how many are on the roster.
  2. A regular schedule. A good Legion has set evenings for dungeons and PvP, not just chat.
  3. Discord or other communication outside the game. In practice, recruiting and coordination happen outside the game, which is exactly why recruitment posts on social media are more visible than guides.
  4. No mandatory daily tasks. AION 2 doesn’t require mandatory attendance. If a Legion has it, that’s a leadership decision, not a game requirement.
  5. Faction and server first, Legion second. Joining a Legion won’t fix a badly chosen server.

Where to look for people: the Legion search right in the game, plus community forums and groups around AION 2.

The easiest option is to arrange things before launch. If you want to play with specific people from day one, agree on faction and server before the servers even open. The Gamers Together community has its own Discord and YouTube channel for that; you’ll find other guides for this game in the AION 2 game guides section.

What’s still in the works for Legions

There’s talk of naval content around Legions: building and operating ships together, sea monsters, open-world bosses for Legions and naval battles. It sounds tempting, and one of the guides presents it as if it had been announced.

There is no official basis for it, though. The source it comes from has already, once before, credited the Chapter 1 update with content that isn’t in the official patch notes. Treat the naval system as an unconfirmed plan, not an announced feature. The same goes for Legion leaderboards and seasonal tournaments; the original text frames those as community wishes too, not as announcements.

What NCSOFT has actually confirmed and what is only a community wish is tracked on an ongoing basis in the AION 2 roadmap.

Will it be the same in the global version?

All the numbers above come from the Korean and Taiwanese version, which has been live since 19 November 2025 and received the Chapter 1 update on 1 July 2026. NCSOFT has not confirmed anywhere what content the global version will launch with. Even the pre-launch FAQ from the developer account on Steam is silent on it.

The dates, on the other hand, are certain: early access starts on 30 September 2026 and is only for Founder’s Pack owners, and the full free-to-play launch for everyone is on 5 October 2026. The game runs on PC only, via Steam or the PURPLE launcher. The details are summed up in the article on AION 2 platforms.

For creating a Legion, the head start has one major catch. For those five days, the early access servers have a separate Market, exchange and PvP matchmaking, so the population will be split at the start. What exactly the head start involves is covered in the article on early access and Founder’s Packs.

FAQ

What are guilds called in AION 2?

They are called Legions. The word “guild” doesn’t appear in the game, so there’s no need to look for it in the interface. The term is carried over from the original AION from 2009, but mechanically it’s a different and much simpler system. Source: MMOExp, 16 July 2026.

How many players fit in one Legion?

One hundred twenty-eight. Watch out for results that say 50; those belong to the mobile game Aion: Legions of War, not AION 2. In the original AION the limit was 40 members. The number 128 is given consistently by MMOExp (16 July 2026) and u4n.com (31 March 2026) and applies to the Korean and Taiwanese version.

How much does it cost to create a Legion in AION 2?

About 100,000 Kinah, and your character needs to be level 5. Your own base is rented separately, for roughly 1,000,000 Kinah a month. For comparison: the daily Kinah earning cap is one million per character, so creating the Legion alone costs a tenth of one maximum day of play.

What is the difference between a Party, Force, Sanctuary and Legion?

A Party is a group of 5 players, a Sanctuary is a dungeon type for 10, a Force is a layer above parties for 20, and a Legion is a community of up to 128 players. You go into battle in the first three; the Legion is your pool of people. Source: official Korean Chapter 1 patch notes from 1 July 2026.

Can I be in a Legion with a player from the other faction or a different server?

No. A Legion only brings together players of the same faction and the same server, so each one belongs to either the Elyos or the Asmodians. You make that choice at character creation, not later, and it can’t be undone. So agree on faction and server with your friends in advance.

Does a Legion in AION 2 have levels and contribution points like in the original AION?

No. Legion levels 1 to 5, contribution points, the Legion Warehouse and the emblem cloak don’t exist in AION 2. Results that describe them refer to the 2009 game. A Legion in AION 2 is deliberately flat: it has members, ranks and a base, with no progression tree attached.

The data is based on the Korean and Taiwanese version after the Chapter 1 update (1 July 2026). Group sizes changed during 2026 and NCSOFT has not yet confirmed what values the global version will launch with, so we’ll verify the creation fee, member limit and group sizes directly in the global client after 30 September and again after 5 October 2026, and update the article. You’ll find more guides in the AION 2 game guides section. Data verified as of 8 August 2026.
