October’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog: Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, Mycopunk and More

Sony has revealed the October additions to the PlayStation Plus subscription Game Catalog, and it’s a wide-ranging batch: a mob story set in early 20th-century Sicily, Aloy’s return to the Forbidden West, and a fast-paced co-op shooter about fungal aliens that lands on the service on day one. PlayStation Plus Premium members also get two classics back. The full lineup goes live on October 20 unless noted otherwise.

Mafia: The Old Country (PS5) – a gritty mob story about the origins of organized crime in 1900s Sicily. You play as Enzo Favara, who is fighting to survive and prove his worth to the Family in a third-person action-adventure set in a dangerous, unforgiving era. It’s a time when skill with a stiletto blade was a deadly asset, the lupara sawed-off shotgun was the go-to firearm, vendettas raged for decades, and mafiosi patrolled their protection rackets on foot, on horseback, or behind the wheel of turn-of-the-century motorcars.

Horizon Forbidden West (PS5, PS4) – join Aloy as she braves the Forbidden West, a majestic but dangerous frontier hiding mysterious new threats. You’ll explore distant lands, fight bigger and more awe-inspiring machines, meet astonishing new tribes, reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring factions and unravel the legacy of the ancient past – all while staying one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy. This is a PlayStation Plus re-release.

Mycopunk (PS5) – a hyper-customizable, mission-based looter shooter where you cut through fungal aliens with hundreds of hand-crafted upgrades, four-player co-op and a little roach man. A ragtag squad of robot rejects hired by the SAXON corporation becomes the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a ramshackle team of exterminators sent to uncover the mystery behind a planet-wide fungal catastrophe. Mycopunk arrives in the Game Catalog day one on October 20 worldwide – we covered that Mycopunk day-one release in a separate article.

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 (PS5, PS4) – after your run-in with Huggy Wuggy and freeing Poppy, you descend deeper into the Playtime Co. toy factory. Challenging puzzles and horrific toys await, so grapple, swing and power your way to safety – and don’t let Mommy find you. Available October 27 in the US, the UK and Japan.

The Midnight Walk (PS5) – a dark fantasy adventure built in clay from the minds behind Lost in Random, Fe and Ghost Giant. You become The Burnt One, befriend a lost lantern creature named Potboy and use his flame to light your way through a world of wonder and horror across five tales of fire and darkness. The whole landscape is handcrafted from real clay and animated in stop-motion style, and the game is fully playable both on PS5 and in VR with PS VR2. Available today, October 14, in the US and the UK, and October 15 in Japan.

Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition (PS5, PS4) – for 300 years Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet and stripping people of their dignity and freedom. The tale begins with two people born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate. A diverse cast, an intuitive and rewarding combat system and a captivating story make for a first-class JRPG experience. Available October 27 in the US, the UK and Japan.

Monster Energy Supercross 25 – The Official Video Game (PS5) – newly designed tracks replicating real-world events, the latest roster of professional riders and a revamped career mode full of rivalries and strategic choices. Built in Unreal Engine 5 with realistic physics and dynamic track evolution, plus open tutorials, a comprehensive wiki and Neural Technology riding aids. Available October 27 in the US, the UK and Japan.

PlayStation Plus Premium

Dino Crisis 2 (PS5, PS4) – one year after the events of “Operation: Rescue Dr. Kirk”, research continues on Dr. Kirk’s Third Energy project, known both for clean energy and for mass destruction. A temporal catastrophe makes the research hub of Edward City disappear, and you suit up as returning protagonist Regina and series newcomer Dylan. Expect an expanded arsenal, far larger hordes and more than 10 unique dinosaur species, with the action moving from facility stages to the jungles, caves, lakes and natural wonders of the Cretaceous period.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition (PS5, PS4) – your park, your way. Manage finances, shops, services and staff across dozens of scenarios, or build your ideal park without money worries in sandbox mode. Keep your guests happy and the park running smoothly and you’ll climb to the top as a true tycoon.

Keep in mind that the Game Catalog and Premium/Deluxe lineups may differ by region, so check the PlayStation Store on release day. The selection of digital PS5 games available to stream from your library also varies over time and by country.
