GTA Vice City cheats: Definitive Edition on PC, PS, Xbox and Switch

Here are the cheats for GTA Vice City – The Definitive Edition on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, side by side in one set of tables: weapons, health, armour, wanted level, the tank and other vehicles, character skins and weather. We only list codes that at least two independent outlets agree on. Where the sources disagree, we leave the code out. Accurate as of 19 October 2026.

How to enter cheats in Vice City

On PC you type the phrase on your keyboard, for example THUGSTOOLS, and the cheat activates. You just type it while you’re playing.

On consoles you enter a button sequence, and it has to be during gameplay. Cheats won’t register in the pause menu or during a cutscene. Arrows in the tables mean the D-pad, and PlayStation buttons are shown as ▲ (Triangle), ■ (Square), ◯ (Circle) and X (Cross).

The Definitive Edition also connects the two methods: on PC you can enter a controller sequence, and on console you can type a phrase on a connected keyboard.

Differences between platforms

• Xbox: the Definitive Edition swaps the triggers compared with the original game. An old Xbox cheat sheet may not work, so stick to the Xbox column below.
• Switch: has its own column using L, R, ZL, ZR and A, B, X, Y. The letters don’t match the Xbox ones, so don’t use Xbox sequences on the Switch.
• “Not listed”: the sources disagree for that platform, so we don’t print a code. No code is better than one that might not work.

The three weapon sets only differ at the end of the sequence. Instant death kills you on the spot, so don’t trigger it by accident in the middle of a mission.

For clear weather we only list the PC phrase, because the button sequences differ between sources on every console. Sunny weather is the other way round: the console sequences match, the PC phrase doesn’t.

What the remaster dropped

Some cheats from the original Vice City are missing from the Definitive Edition. Rockstar spoke of “a couple” of cheats that were removed from the remaster for technical reasons. If an old cheat sheet has a code that isn’t here, it may be one of those, or one where the sources don’t agree.

Achievements and saving

Cheats can lock trophies and achievements. Some also have a permanent effect, such as armed pedestrians. Before you enter one, save to a separate slot and don’t save while a cheat is active. That way you won’t wreck your progress.

Where to play Vice City Definitive Edition

The original Vice City came out in 2002. The remaster is part of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition from November 2021, together with GTA III and San Andreas. You can play it on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

Vice City Definitive Edition launched on Steam on 19 January 2023. It’s sold in the Trilogy bundle for €59.99 or included in the GTA+ subscription at €7.99 a month. It takes up 10 GB and has 34 achievements. At minimum you need Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD FX-6300, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 760 or Radeon R9 280.
