GTA 3 cheats: Definitive Edition codes for every platform

Here are the cheats for GTA III – The Definitive Edition on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch: all weapons, full health and armour, $250,000, wanted level, the tank, flying cars and weather. The list is shorter than for Vice City or San Andreas, and a few old codes didn’t make it into the remaster. We only list codes that at least two independent outlets agree on. Accurate as of 19 October 2026.

How to enter cheats in GTA 3

On PC you type the phrase from the table on your keyboard while playing, for example GUNSGUNSGUNS for all weapons. On consoles you enter a button sequence, also during gameplay. Cheats won’t register in the pause menu or during a cutscene.

Arrows in the tables mean the D-pad. PlayStation buttons are shown as ▲ (Triangle), ■ (Square), ◯ (Circle) and X (Cross).

The Definitive Edition also lets you mix things up: on PC you can enter a controller sequence, and on console you can type a phrase on a connected keyboard.

Differences between platforms

• Xbox: the Definitive Edition swaps the triggers compared with the original. An old cheat sheet for the original Xbox may not work, so use the Xbox column below.
• Switch: has its own column with L, R, ZL, ZR and A, B, X, Y. The letters don’t match the Xbox ones, so don’t use Xbox sequences on the Switch.
• “Not listed”: the sources disagree for that platform, so we don’t print a code. This applies to slower gameplay on PlayStation and the tank on Switch.

Weapons, health and money

The first four cheats are the most useful early on: all weapons, full health, full armour and $250,000 in cash.

Game speed, cars and the tank

Faster and slower gameplay change the pace of the whole world, and improved handling helps in chases. Flying cars and the tank are more for fun outside missions.

Which old cheats the remaster dropped

Some cheats from the original GTA III aren’t in the Definitive Edition. Rockstar said “a couple” of cheats were removed from the remaster for technical reasons. If an old cheat sheet has a code that’s missing here, it’s either one of those or a code the sources don’t agree on. Either way, there’s no point trying it from our list.

Things to watch out for

• Trophies and achievements: cheats can lock them. If you’re collecting them, save to a separate slot before you use any cheat.
• Permanent effects: some cheats, such as armed pedestrians, have a permanent effect. Don’t save while a cheat is active.
• Wanted level and pedestrians: angry or armed pedestrians and a higher wanted level can ruin even a simple mission. Use them while cruising around the city instead.

Where to play GTA 3 Definitive Edition

The original GTA III came out in 2001. The remaster is part of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition from November 2021, together with Vice City and San Andreas, and runs on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

GTA III Definitive Edition launched on Steam on 19 January 2023. You can buy it in the Trilogy bundle for €59.99 or play it through the GTA+ subscription at €7.99 a month. It only takes 5 GB and has 29 achievements.
