Cheats in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 work on PC only, through a developer console that you unlock with the -devmode launch option on Steam. This guide shows how to enable and open the console, followed by tables of commands for groschen, items, saving without a potion, lockpicking, horses and hiding the HUD. The list is current as of 19 October 2026 and only includes commands that at least two independent gaming outlets agree on.
PC only: no cheats on PS5 or Xbox
The command console exists only in the PC version of the game. There are no cheats, codes or hidden consoles on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, so if you play on a console, nothing in this guide will help you. Button combinations that claim to be console cheats do not work.
Warhorse Studios does not officially document the console or its commands. It is a developer mode turned on with a launch parameter, and everything below is based on guides from PC Gamer, GamesRadar+ and PCGamesN. PC players who would rather avoid the console have a second option: official mod support through Steam Workshop (more on that at the end).
How to enable -devmode on Steam
- In your Steam library, right-click Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
- Select Properties.
- Find the Launch Options field.
- Type
-devmodeand close the window. - Launch the game through Steam as usual.
The parameter stays saved until you delete it from the field. If you want to play without the console again, just clear it.
How to open the console
In game, open the console with the tilde key ~. On an English keyboard it sits to the left, just below Esc. Type a command into the line and confirm with Enter.

Typing ?_ prints a list of every available command. It is long and has no explanations, so it is most useful for checking the exact spelling of a command. Copy upper and lower case letters and the spaces around the equals sign exactly as they appear in the tables below.
Console command list
Commands are grouped by what they do. The “What to enter” column describes what you need to add after the command, if anything.
Groschen and items
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
wh_cheat_money 1000 | a space and the amount, here 1,000 groschen | adds the given amount of groschen |
wh_cheat_addItem | a space and the item ID | adds an item by its ID |
We do not list individual item IDs. Sources disagree on them, and with a wrong ID the command does nothing.
Saving
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
wh_sys_NoSavePotion = 1 | nothing, type the full command | lets you save at any time without Saviour Schnapps |
Saviour Schnapps is the potion the game normally uses for saving. If you would rather not touch the console, the recipe and brewing steps are in our guide to alchemy recipes.
Law and combat
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
cheat_set_wanted_level=0 | nothing, type the full command (no spaces) | guards stop chasing you |
wh_rpg_OneShotKill = 1 | nothing, type the full command | you kill with one hit, but so do enemies hitting you |
Be careful with wh_rpg_OneShotKill: it works both ways. A single blow from a bandit takes you down just as reliably as you take him down.
Lockpicking
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
wh_pl_LockPickingShakeOverride = 0 | nothing, type the full command | the lockpick stops shaking while you pick |
wh_pl_LockPickingDOF = 50 | nothing, type the full command | the lockpick lasts longer before it breaks |
How lockpicking works without cheats and where to find lockpicks is covered in our lockpicking guide.
Horses
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
wh_horse_StealCurrentHorse | nothing, you just need to be mounted | the stolen horse you are riding becomes yours |
wh_horse_JumpHeight = | a space and a number after the equals sign; the default is 1 | sets your horse’s jump height |
wh_horse_JumpGravityMult = | a space and a number after the equals sign | changes gravity during a horse jump; negative values launch the horse into the air |
Save before trying negative gravity. Henry and his horse will fly high, and the landing may not go well.
HUD and teleport
| Command | What to enter | What it does |
|---|---|---|
wh_ui_showHUD = 0 | nothing, type the full command | hides the HUD, handy for screenshots |
wh_rpg_getLocation | nothing | prints your current coordinates |
goto | a space and the coordinates | teleports you to those coordinates |
You get the coordinates for goto from wh_rpg_getLocation. Print them at a spot you want to return to, write them down and teleport back later.
Before you start: save your game
Commands can break a save file or a quest. The guides mention stealing horses and negative jump gravity in particular, but caution applies in general. Save before every experiment, ideally to a separate slot you can return to.
Two more practical tips:
- Try one command at a time and check what it did before entering the next one.
- If something does not work, compare your spelling with the
?_output. A different capital letter or a missing space is the most common mistake.
The console-free alternative: Steam Workshop mods
Warhorse launched official mod support through Steamworks on 13 March 2025 with patch 1.2, and the game has its own Steam Workshop. One of the best-known mods is Unlimited Saving II, which lets you save at any time without Saviour Schnapps, no console needed. Official support is on Steam, which means PC. More is covered in our KCD2 mods guide.
The game itself is single-player only. If you are curious about playing with others, read our news piece on the multiplayer mod.
