Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 team shooter, and matches are played across several modes on maps from all corners of the Marvel universe. This guide explains the core modes Domination, Convoy and Convergence, lists every map on NetEase’s official site, and covers the arcade modes and the limited-time content of Season 10.5. Everything reflects the state of the game on 20 October 2026. Maps and modes change from season to season, so events come with dates.
The three core modes
Both Quick Match (unranked) and Competitive (ranked) are built on three modes:
- Domination – both teams fight over a control point and try to hold it.
- Convoy – attackers escort a vehicle to its destination while defenders try to stop it.
- Convergence – a mix of both: capture a zone first, then escort a vehicle.
Quick Match plays a single round. A competitive match can have several rounds, and Convoy is played over two rounds with teams swapping sides, so each team attacks once and defends once. How the rest of competitive works, including ranks, points and bans, is covered in our ranked guide.
Maps are drawn separately for each mode. A Domination map does not show up in Convoy and vice versa, so over time you learn what to expect on each one.

We deliberately do not say which map belongs to which mode. Sources disagree, and the rotation changes with each season. The one exception is Thebes, which NetEase itself presents as a Convoy map: you fight through desert dunes and the ruins of the Temple of Khonshu, under the shadow of the huge Pyramid of Apocalypse.
New map: The God Quarry

Times Square: a place between battles
Times Square is not a combat map. It is a social space where up to 100 players can gather to dance, watch videos, read and explore. It is a handy spot while you wait for friends or want to show off a new costume.
Arcade modes
Alongside Quick Match and Competitive, the game has arcade modes with looser rules:
- Doom Match – free-for-all, kills decide the winner.
- Conquest – a team mode where you score points for kills.
- 18 VS. 18 – large-scale battles. Since 9 October 2026 the mode also includes the Alchemax Headquarters map.

Limited-time modes and events in Season 10.5
Season 10.5 started on 9 October 2026 and, according to the patch notes, brought the following:

Path to Doomsday plays differently from the usual modes. It is not six against six but duos, so it helps to have a partner lined up.
The competitive map pool changes each season
The competitive map pool is not fixed. Season 7 brought Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya back into rotation, which shows NetEase adds and removes maps by season. To know what is in play right now, follow the patch notes, which we summarise in our Marvel Rivals news.

A regular match is six against six. Path to Doomsday is different: 12 players in six duos.
NetEase explicitly presents Thebes as a Convoy map. For other maps sources disagree and the rotation changes each season, so we do not assign them to modes.

Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Infinity War runs from 9 October to 11 December 2026.
