Marvel Rivals performance settings: FPS, HD textures and Steam Deck

If Marvel Rivals stutters on your PC or your laptop runs hot while you play, start with the official advice. This guide collects the performance tips NetEase’s own support has published: how to cap your FPS, what to turn on when gaming on a laptop, what to do about stuttering, how to shrink the install by turning off HD textures and how to pick a server. At the end you will find how Steam rates the game on Steam Deck. Valid as of 20 October 2026, Season 10.5.

The minimum and recommended PC specs (CPU, GPU, 16 GB RAM, 70 GB of storage) are listed in our platforms and requirements guide. This article picks up from there.

Cap your frame rate

NetEase recommends a frame rate limit especially on laptops, where long sessions with an uncapped frame rate lead to overheating and thermal throttling of the CPU and GPU. Here is where to set it:

  1. Open the Menu in game.
  2. Go to Options.
  3. Open Display Settings.
  4. Turn on Frame Rate Limit and choose a value.

Playing on a laptop

NetEase’s official laptop advice comes down to four points:

  • Discrete graphics direct mode – if your laptop supports it, turn it on. The steps differ by manufacturer and model, so ask your laptop’s manufacturer or retailer.
  • Game or performance mode – many laptops ship with a “Game Mode” or “Performance Mode”. Switch it on before launching the game.
  • Frame rate limit – see the steps above, it matters most on a laptop.
  • Cooling – keep the vents clear and the room cool. A cooling pad or external fan helps too.

When the game stutters

If your PC meets the requirements and the game still stutters a lot, NetEase recommends two steps:

  1. Reinstall the latest graphics driver for your card, choosing the clean installation option.
  2. In Windows, open Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add an app, browse to Marvel.exe in the game folder and set it to “High performance”.

The second step tells Windows to give the game the stronger GPU and more resources. If stuttering continues or the game crashes, move on to our crash fixes guide.

HD Texture Pack: a smaller install

Since 7 May 2026, high-resolution textures have been split out as a DLC, as NetEase’s HD Texture Pack guide explains. On Steam it is enabled by default. If you disable it, the game uses lower-resolution textures and the install gets smaller, although image quality may drop in some cases. It is worth considering if you are short on disk space or running weaker hardware. Steam lists 70 GB of required space for the game.

To turn HD textures off on Steam:

  1. Open your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click Marvel Rivals.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Go to the DLC tab.
  5. Uncheck Marvel Rivals High-Resolution Resource Pack.

If you tick the DLC again, the textures download again. In the NetEase launcher you choose between “Game Only” and “Game Only + HD assets” on first download, and you can add the HD assets later. For the Epic Games Store, NetEase lists the feature as coming soon.

Intel XeSS 3 Frame Generation

Since Season 10, the game supports Intel XeSS 3 Frame Generation. On compatible Intel graphics cards it inserts up to three generated frames between two rendered ones, and Intel XeLL reduces input lag.

Pick the closest server

Ping decides whether your dash or attack lands on time. In game you can pick a single server or a group of servers that suits you best:

RegionServers
EuropeFrankfurt, Warsaw
North AmericaOregon, Dallas, Northern Virginia
Middle EastDammam
South AmericaSão Paulo
Asia-PacificTokyo, Singapore, Sydney

For players in Central Europe, the closest options are the European servers in Frankfurt and Warsaw. If you are looking for Czech and Slovak teammates, see our CZ/SK community guide.

Marvel Rivals on Steam Deck

Steam rates the game as “Playable” on Steam Deck. According to Steam, that means:

  • The default configuration performs well.
  • Controller glyphs match the Deck’s buttons.
  • The default controller layout is not fully functional.
  • The on-screen keyboard does not open automatically when you need to type.
  • Some text is hard to read on the small screen.
  • An external controller cannot be used as the primary input.

Otherwise the game fully supports controllers, and Steam lists it with Full controller support.
