Marvel Rivals Ranked: ranks, points, bans and seasons explained

Competitive is the ranked mode in Marvel Rivals, where you play for points and a rank. This guide covers every rank from Bronze to One Above All, how many points a division takes, how placement matches and hero bans have worked since Season 7, who you can queue with and what rank rewards you get. It reflects Season 10.5 as of 20 October 2026. NetEase has not announced when Season 10 ends.

NetEase does not run a dedicated page with the competitive rules and only announces changes in patch notes. Ranks and points below follow what the gaming outlets PCGamesN and TechRadar agree on, while system changes come from the official patch notes.

Competitive ranks

Competitive unlocks once your account reaches a certain level. After that there are nine ranks:

RankDivisionsHow it works
BronzeIII, II, I100 points per division
SilverIII, II, I100 points per division
GoldIII, II, I100 points per division
PlatinumIII, II, I100 points per division
DiamondIII, II, I100 points per division
GrandmasterIII, II, I100 points per division
CelestialIII, II, I100 points per division
Eternityno divisionspoints only
One Above Allno divisionspoints only, top 500 players

Points and divisions

Up to Celestial, every rank has three divisions and each division takes 100 points. You climb from division III through II to I and then into the next rank. Eternity and One Above All have no divisions at all, only points. One Above All is reserved for the top 500 players, so collecting points is not enough on its own: you need more than everyone else.

At the highest ranks, points decay when you are inactive. If you reach the top and stop playing, you will gradually lose your spot.

Placement matches since Season 7

Since Season 7 (20 March 2026), placement matches track your individual performance rather than just whether your team won. After ten matches your rank is adjusted by −100 to +100 points based on how you played and which rank you are in. Strong placements count even when your team is losing.

Hero bans

Before a match there can be a ban phase in which both teams remove heroes from the pick pool. According to the patch notes for Season 7, each team bans 3 heroes (up from 2) and each ban round lasts 15 seconds (down from 20). It pays to have more than one hero ready, because your main may be gone before you pick. Who plays which role and which heroes are worth learning is covered in our heroes and roles guide.

Who you can queue with

Parties in competitive are limited by rank:

  • Up to Gold you can queue with anyone.
  • From Gold I to Celestial party members can be at most three divisions apart.
  • Eternity and One Above All players can only party with players at Celestial II or higher.

Rank is tracked per device, and competitive keeps PC and console players apart. Crossplay and cross-progression details are in our platforms and crossplay guide.

What a competitive match looks like

It is six against six in the same modes as outside ranked: Domination (hold the control point), Convoy (escort a vehicle to its destination) and Convergence (capture a zone first, then escort a vehicle). The difference is length. A competitive match can have several rounds, and Convoy is played over two rounds with teams swapping sides, while Quick Match plays a single round.

The competitive map pool changes from season to season. Season 7, for example, brought Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya back into rotation. For the full list, see our maps and modes guide.

Rank rewards

Each half-season has its own costume for reaching Gold or higher:

  • Season 10: Gorr the God Butcher – Gods’ Graveyard.
  • Season 10.5: Jeff the Land Shark – Razor-Tooth.

Higher ranks also award Crest of Honor rewards, as of Season 7 for Celestial, for Eternity and One Above All, and for Top 500.

Seasons and half-seasons

Each season has two halves, Season X and Season X.5. The current one is Season 10 “Butcher’s Blasphemy”, which started on 11 September 2026 at 09:00 UTC, and its second half, Season 10.5, has been live since 9 October 2026. According to the official patch notes, this year’s seasons have launched roughly eight weeks apart:

SeasonStart
Season 720 March 2026
Season 815 May 2026
Season 910 July 2026
Season 1011 September 2026
Season 10.59 October 2026

As of 20 October 2026, NetEase has not announced the end of Season 10 or the start of Season 11, so we do not give a date. Only the limited-time content has end dates: the Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Infinity War mode runs until 11 December 2026 and the Infinity Finale event until 10 December 2026. What the season launch brought is covered in our Season 10 update news.

Leaving and going AFK costs more now

Since 17 September 2026, NetEase has handed out harsher penalties for inactivity, throwing and leaving matches early. Each further offence extends your matchmaking ban, and this applies to Quick Match too. How the penalty ladder works and how to appeal after a connection drop is explained in our penalties and bans guide.
