At minimum, Fortnite on PC needs a Core i3-3225, 8 GB of RAM and Intel HD 4000-class graphics. On Android you need 64-bit Android 10 and 4 GB of RAM, on iPhone an iPhone 11 or newer with iOS 17.6.1. Below you’ll find the full requirements from the Epic Help Center as of 20 October 2026, how to uninstall on PC and consoles, and Epic’s official checklist for when the game crashes or shows an error.
PC requirements
The Epic Help Center lists three tiers. Minimum gets the game running, recommended is for normal play and Epic Quality Presets is for the highest graphics quality presets.

| Component | Minimum | Recommended | Epic Quality Presets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graphics | Intel HD 4000 / AMD Radeon Vega 8 | Nvidia GTX 960 / AMD R9 280 or equivalent DX11 GPU | Nvidia RTX 3070 / AMD RX 6700 XT |
| Video memory (VRAM) | not listed | 2 GB | 8 GB or more |
| Processor | Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz | Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz / AMD Ryzen 3 3300U | Intel Core i7-8700 / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | not listed | NVMe SSD | NVMe SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 version 22H2 (64-bit) or Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2 (64-bit) | Windows 10/11, 64-bit | Windows 10/11, 64-bit |
If your PC only meets the minimum, Epic says Fortnite will run, but probably not on the highest settings. Epic’s advice is to lower the graphics and close apps running in the background.

| Minimum | Recommended | |

| OS | 64-bit Android 10 or newer on ARM64 | Android 14 or newer |
| RAM | at least 4 GB | 8 GB or more |

iPhone and iPad requirements
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | iOS 17.6.1 or newer | iOS 17.6.1 or newer |
| RAM | 4 GB | 6 GB or more |

Note that the iPhone SE (2nd generation) is explicitly not supported. According to fortnite.com, on iPhone you get Fortnite from the App Store, and in the EU also from the Epic Games Store. Steps for every platform are in our guide on downloading Fortnite.
When your PC isn’t quite enough
On a weaker PC, Performance mode helps. It lowers graphics quality in favour of smoothness, and Epic says it may increase FPS. You switch it on in the video settings, and the full steps are in our guide on boosting FPS.
The other option is cloud gaming, where you play through a streaming service instead of a local install. Which services offer Fortnite and what to expect is covered in Fortnite cloud gaming.
On consoles and mobile, keep in mind that not every mode is available everywhere. Save the World, for example, doesn’t run on the original Switch or on mobile, see our guide to Save the World. How Fortnite differs on Switch and Switch 2 is in Fortnite on Switch.
How to uninstall Fortnite
On PC in the Epic Games Launcher
- Open the Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Click the three dots next to Fortnite.
- Select Uninstall.
- Confirm by clicking Uninstall again.
If you use the Early Preview version of the launcher on Windows 11, you can also remove Fortnite through Settings → Add or remove programs.
On consoles
- PlayStation: highlight Fortnite, press the Options button and select Delete.
- Xbox Series X|S: My Games & Apps → Games → Fortnite → Menu button → Uninstall.
- Nintendo Switch: highlight the game, press +, select Manage Software → Delete Software.
Will I lose my progress?
No. Your progress, data and items are stored on your Epic Games account, not on the device, so uninstalling or reinstalling doesn’t affect them. To reinstall on PC, uninstall as above and then click the Fortnite tile in your library to install it again.
The game crashes or shows an error
You won’t find a list of error codes here. Epic has a general checklist for crashes and errors on consoles, and it’s worth working through it in this order:
- Search for the exact error message in the Epic Help Center.
- Check the Fortnite Status page on X and the Fortnite Community Issues site, where Epic lists known problems.
- Update both the game and the console system software.
- Clear the console cache.
- Reinstall the game.
- Do a full power cycle, switching the console completely off and on again.
- If the problem persists, contact your console manufacturer’s support.
How to save disk space
On PC you can remove the High Resolution Textures. According to Epic, this saves over 15 GB. In the launcher, open Library, click the three dots next to Fortnite, select Options, untick High Resolution Textures and confirm with Apply. Epic mentions this option in its Performance mode guide.
