What BeamNG.drive is
BeamNG.drive is a driving simulator built around soft-body physics. According to publisher BeamNG GmbH, the engine simulates every component of a vehicle in real time. Everything in the game, from ordinary driving to crashes, rests on that.

On PC the game has been on Steam since 29 May 2015, still in Early Access. It arrived on PS5 on the same day PC got version 0.40, 19 October 2026. Early Access means the game is still in development and will keep changing.
Where to buy it and on how many consoles you can play
You buy the game on the PS Store page for BeamNG.drive on PS5. Under the standard PS Store terms you can download and play it on your primary PS5 and on other PS5 consoles when signed in with the same account.
The PS Store page also lists cloud streaming on PS5 and PlayStation Portal, but only with a Premium subscription. The differences between tiers are explained in our guide to PlayStation Plus tiers, and how cloud streaming works is covered in our Premium streaming guide.
Split-screen for up to four players
The headline feature of version 0.40 is local split-screen. On PS5 up to four people can play on one screen (on PC it is up to 64). There are two ways to start it:
- From the Main Menu: add participants and pick Freeroam or one of the game modes.
- Inside a level: open the Pause Menu and select Split-Screen.

Which racing wheels work on PS5
With version 0.40 BeamNG published the list of wheels it supports on PS5 with force feedback:
- Fanatec ClubSport DD+ for PS
- Fanatec Gran Turismo DD PRO
- Logitech G29
- Logitech G923
- Logitech RS50
- Logitech G Pro for PS
- Thrustmaster T248 for PS
- Thrustmaster T598
- Thrustmaster T98 FERRARI 296 GTB
- Thrustmaster TGT2
- Thrustmaster T300 RS
Other PS5 wheels have not been tested yet. They may or may not work, and BeamNG plans to improve support over time. If you are still choosing a wheel, start with our guide to the PS5 racing wheel. If you drive with a DualSense, version 0.40 also rebalanced throttle and brake linearity on the controller triggers.
The full list of changes is in the BeamNG v0.40 blog.
What the PS5 version is still missing
The developers said it up front in the PS5 release announcement: mods and VR are not supported at launch on PS5. In the long term they aim for the same features across platforms, but they cannot confirm timing or scope yet. That is why you will not find any “coming soon” here: nobody has officially said when, or whether, mods will reach PS5.
Which languages BeamNG.drive supports on PS5
Voice is English only. According to the PS Store, on-screen text is available in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian and Spanish (Spain and Mexico). There is no Czech, for example. More on language support across PS5 games is in our article on PS5 game languages.
BeamNG.drive on PS5 Pro
On the PS Store the game carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. What exactly it does differently on PS5 Pro has not been described by Sony or BeamNG as of 20 October 2026, so we do not quote any resolution or frame rate figures. Whether the Pro is worth it for you in general is covered in our PS5 Pro comparison.
The PC version for comparison
On PC, BeamNG.drive costs €22.50 on Steam for Czechia (as of 20 October 2026). PC got version 0.40 on the same day as PS5, and split-screen there supports more players.
Beware of fake mobile versions
The BeamNG FAQ warns about apps called BeamNG.drive on Android and iOS. Officially the game only exists on PC and now on PS5. According to the developer, mobile “versions” are most likely malware, so do not install them on your phone.
