When Apex Legends throws an error at you, one of a handful of proven steps usually sorts it out. This guide explains what the most common codes mean, such as code:net, code:leaf, 100 or Party Not Ready, and how to fix them according to EA’s help pages. The second part is about PC: since 29 September 2026, Apex Legends uses EA Javelin Anticheat there, and it has its own errors. You don’t need to worry about Secure Boot, as of 24 September 2026, EA states that Apex Legends doesn’t currently require it. Accurate as of 20 October 2026.
What to try first
Before hunting down a specific code, go through these steps. They fix a large share of problems on their own:

- Check the @PlayApex account and the server status. If the servers are down, nothing on your end will fix it.
- Restart the game, then restart your whole device.
- If the error persists, reinstall the game. Your in-game progress is kept.
Error codes and how to fix them
An overview based on EA’s help pages, grouped by where the problem lies:
| Error | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| code:net, code:leaf (also wheel on PS4) | EA’s servers aren’t responding | restart your router, use a cable instead of Wi-Fi, restart your device |
| code:clock | Apex Legends servers stopped waiting for you to connect | check server status, run a speed test, change data centre, restart your router |
| 429 | server maintenance or outage | wait and keep an eye on the server status |
| Error 110 | usually a temporary account issue | restart, check server status |
| 102122 | temporary EA account linking issue | restart |
| Profile already logged in on another device | you recently logged out of the game on another platform | wait a few minutes |
| Error 100 | time zone or date of birth mismatch between your EA account and your platform account | make the details match in both accounts |
| Error 23 | outdated graphics driver or corrupted files | match the language and region of your EA account and the EA app, update drivers, repair or reinstall the game |
| This account is not permitted to play online | possibly a ban, otherwise a connection problem | check and appeal if needed at help.ea.com |
| Snake | a temporary penalty for leaving matches early | wait for the penalty to expire |
| Out of Sync with server | out of sync with the server | set Settings > Video > Texture Streaming Budget to None |
| Game version does not match host | outdated game version | update the game |
Party leader quit and Party not ready
If your party won’t connect, try these in order:
- Leave the party and rejoin.
- Invite your friends directly from the lobby.
- Go back to the main menu.
- Switch from Play Apex to Training and back to Play Apex.
- Restart the game.
During the switch to Javelin, some players ran into matchmaking errors (Party Not Ready), and on 29 September 2026 Respawn recommended launching the game through Steam. The details are in our news piece on the Javelin matchmaking issues.
Crashes on PC
- Apex_crash.txt and r5apex.exe crashes: repair the game files in the EA app (Library > Apex Legends > Manage > Repair) and update Windows.
- DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: do a full system restart.
PlayStation errors
- ui/userinfo.nut: temporarily switch the console language to English (United Kingdom).
- CE-34878-0: restart the console in Safe Mode.
EA Javelin Anticheat on PC
Since 29 September 2026, Apex Legends on PC uses EA Javelin Anticheat instead of Easy Anti-Cheat. The switch happened automatically with a game update, so you didn’t need to install anything. Older guides that tell you to delete Easy Anti-Cheat files or fix its errors no longer apply on PC. What the switch meant is covered in our news piece on the move to Javelin.
According to EA’s Javelin help, Javelin requires Windows 10 20H1 (version 10.0.19041) or newer. The game installs it on its own, and you can install it manually with the EA Javelin anticheat installer. The game won’t launch without Javelin. To uninstall it:
- Run
C:Program FilesEAACEAAntiCheat.Installer.exe. - Choose Uninstall (for one game) or Uninstall All (for all games).
Secure Boot
Some EA games with Javelin require Secure Boot to be enabled in the BIOS. Apex Legends isn’t one of them: in its announcement of 24 September 2026, EA states that Apex Legends doesn’t currently require it.
Javelin errors and how to fix them
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| #41 | Windows 11 Insider Preview without a renewed certificate | install the latest Insider update and restart |
| #701 | the anticheat couldn’t start, most likely due to a Windows file system issue | see the steps below |
| #119, Incompatible software/driver | a program or driver on the denylist | update it, otherwise close it |
| Please start the game from the EA app | an outdated launcher or other software interferes | update the EA app or Steam and close any software that interferes |
Steps for error #701:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Enter
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:(if your system is on a different drive, use its letter). - Restart your PC.
- Run the Javelin installer again.
The denylist behind error #119 includes some widely used programs. Examples from the official list are ASUS Aura Sync, CPU-Z, HWiNFO, MSI Command Center, Razer Synapse, Samsung Magician, Process Explorer, Voicemod, Core Temp and GIGABYTE RGB Fusion. For most of them, installing the latest version is enough.
How Javelin did in its first week is covered in our news piece on Javelin’s first week. On consoles, Respawn is rolling out detection of unauthorised controllers and devices such as Cronus and Titan, on all platforms including Switch 2.
Lag and high ping
Not every problem comes with a code. If the game stutters, enable Performance Display under Settings > Gameplay and watch your ping. It usually sits between 50 and 150 ms, and above 100 ms you may notice lag. You can change the data centre on the start screen via Data Center in the bottom left, before you click Continue. More tips are in our settings guide, servers for Central European players are covered in our article on the Czech-Slovak community, and hardware demands in our guide to system requirements.
