What the Ultimate Edition includes
The Ultimate Edition is mostly an Ultimate Team bundle, but it also adds a few things to Career and The Grounds:
- up to 7 days of early access (for FC 27 from 18 September 2026, no longer relevant),
- 6,000 FC Points spread over three months,
- the Season 1 Premium Pass for Football Ultimate Team (FUT),
- an extra player Evolution slot in FUT,
- in Career, 3 ICONs or Heroes, a 5-star Chief Scout, Coach and Youth Scout and 5 extra slots for creating Manager Live challenges,
- in The Grounds, the Signature Sweatsuit, a Level 3 Amp inspired by Mbappé and 2 Double AXP consumables for 10 matches.
The FC Points arrive in three equal instalments. You get the first one when you first log in to Ultimate Team and the next two by the 15th of each of the following two months. To receive all 6,000 points you need to log in for the first time by 1 August 2027, and after 26 September 2027 no points are granted. What points cost on their own is covered in our guide to FC Points prices.
The edition content is only granted when you log in to Ultimate Team and The Grounds while connected to EA servers and create a Career save. Keep an eye on the Season 1 Premium Pass too: FUT Season 1 ends on 22 October 2026 and the pass is no longer available after that.
You can no longer buy the Ultimate Plus Edition
The Ultimate Plus Edition was a pre-order only. It included the Premium Pass for Seasons 1 to 5 and 10,000 FC Points. As of 20 October 2026, the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store we checked only sell Standard and Ultimate.
Platforms and The Grounds
FC 27 is available on PC (EA app, Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The new The Grounds mode, which also includes Clubs, is only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2. You will not find it on PS4, Xbox One or the original Switch. If Clubs is the main reason you are buying, keep that in mind when choosing a platform.
FC 27 Lite for free
EA Sports FC 27 Lite is a free download on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store. It includes Kick-Off with a selection of clubs, Learn to Play, online Friendlies and Online Seasons. Ultimate Team, Manager and Player Career and The Grounds are not part of Lite. If you later buy the full game on the same platform with the same EA account, your progress carries over.
EA Play, EA Play Pro and Game Pass
EA Play (€5.99 a month on ea.com as of 20 October 2026) gives you a 10-hour trial of FC 27 whose progress carries over to the full game. On top of that you get recurring Draft Tokens for FUT, items for The Grounds and 10% off EA digital purchases, FC Points included. The PlayStation Store offers the trial directly on the Standard and Ultimate pages as a “Game Trial”.
EA Play Pro (€16.99 a month on ea.com, PC only via the EA app) gives you the full game including Ultimate Edition style content, available since 18 September 2026.
FC 27 is not on Game Pass. As of 20 October 2026, the Microsoft Store only offers it to buy, with a 10% discount for EA Play members.
Crossplay and progression
Crossplay in FC 27 works between PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but only within the same generation. PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC play together, PS4 and Xbox One play together. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 do not support crossplay. Crossplay is on when you first launch the game.
To turn it off, go to Main Menu → EA Connect → Social settings → Cross-play → Cross-play settings and set “Cross-play Enabled” to No. The alternative route is Main Menu → Customise → Online Settings → Matchmaking Options, and in FUT Ultimate Team → Settings → Matchmaking Settings. You cannot change it during a match.
Cross-progression only works within the same platform family: from PS4 to PS5 or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. You cannot move progress between PlayStation and Xbox, and on PlayStation only Ultimate Team progress carries over.
Club Membership for FC 26 players
If you log in to both FC 26 and FC 27 with the same EA account by 1 November 2026, you receive rewards across FUT, Career, The Grounds and Clubs during the season. Logging in through the Companion app or the trial does not count.
What you need to play online
On PC you need an EA account linked to Steam, the EA app and an internet connection. Hardware is covered in our system requirements guide. On PlayStation, online play requires PS Plus. If you are starting out in FUT, read our Ultimate Team guide. And if competitive play is your thing, follow FC esports in Czechia, for example the FC 27 Brno qualifiers.
EA lists the edition contents and EA Play on its buy page, and you can check PC prices on Steam.
