PUBG won’t launch or keeps crashing: BattlEye and anti-cheat errors fixed

PUBG won’t launch, crashes to desktop or throws a BattlEye or anti-cheat error? Most problems with PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on PC can be fixed with a few steps from KRAFTON’s official support: verify the game files, update Windows and drivers, remove programs that interfere with the game and, as a last resort, do a clean reinstall. The steps below apply to the PC version on Steam and come only from official support, accurate as of 20 October 2026.

First aid: verify files and run the basic checks

Start by verifying the game files. In Steam, open your library, right-click PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and choose Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Steam downloads any missing or damaged files again.

If that doesn’t help, work through support’s general crash and performance checklist:

  1. Check that your PC meets the PUBG system requirements.
  2. Restart your PC and your router.
  3. Remove all launch options for the game in Steam.
  4. Verify the game files.
  5. Update Windows and your graphics driver, or do a clean driver install.
  6. Turn off any CPU, RAM and GPU overclocking.
  7. In the properties of TslGame.exe in SteamsteamappscommonPUBGTslGameBinariesWin64, disable Fullscreen Optimization.

The full checklist is in the official crash and performance support guide. If the game runs but only slowly, continue with our FPS settings guide.

Clean reinstall step by step

When nothing above helps, support recommends a clean reinstall rather than simply uninstalling and downloading again:

A desert landscape with rocks, a domed building with a flag and a village behind it
A desert landscape with a domed building and a village. Source: Krafton (Steam)
  1. Uninstall PUBG in Steam.
  2. Delete the %localappdata%TslGame folder.
  3. Delete BEService_pubg.exe in Program Files (x86)Common FilesBattlEye.
  4. Delete the steamappscommonPUBG folder if it is still there.
  5. Clear the download cache in Steam and restart Steam.
  6. Install the game again from Steam, not from a backup.

BattlEye errors

BattlEye is the anti-cheat PUBG uses. Support covers two of its common errors:

  • “[25] BattlEye: Corrupted Data” – close the game, delete the BattlEye folder in the game install (support places it in the Win64 subfolder under steamappscommonPUBGTslGame) and verify the files in Steam. If the error persists, do a clean reinstall including %localappdata%TslGame.
  • “Failed to initialize BattlEye Service: Driver Load Error (577)” – install Windows security updates through Windows Update or from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

New anti-cheat error codes and the Xenuine message

Besides BattlEye, support lists errors from the “new anti-cheat solution” with numeric codes. The most common ones:

CodeCauseWhat to do
0x106, 0x240–0x244, 0x300–0x318, 0x501–0x503an unsupported program, according to support also an antivirus, is running alongside the gameclose programs unrelated to the game and start it again; turn off an antivirus only temporarily and only as support describes, and report the problem program to PUBG support
0x200–0x209, 0x220–0x222missing system filesrun System File Checker
0x420–0x433memory allocation failedrestart your PC
0x510–0x512GPU overclocking or monitoring softwareturn off overclocking and monitoring tools
0x740the game failed to startrestart, reinstall if needed
0xA00damaged fileinstall DirectX and Visual C++ 2015
0xA01 and up, 0xB00 and updamaged installationreinstall the game
0xD00–0xD06outdated game versionupdate the game

An error mentioning dxgi.dll means a program that alters graphics, such as ReShade, is running with the game. The full code list is in support’s article on the new anti-cheat.

The Xenuine message “Application is interrupted by external software” means another program is interfering. Remove illegal and interfering programs and malware, turn off helper and graphics tools, monitoring software and GPU overclocking, close other apps, then restart or reinstall the game. If nothing works, open a support ticket under Issue → Error → Xenuine with a screenshot of the error.

Unauthorized devices and ReShade

“Your client will now close due to the detection of an unauthorized device” means the game detected a macro mouse or another unauthorized device. Unplug it and restart the game. If you don’t use anything like that and the error stays, send support the make and model of your mouse and keyboard.

ReShade and similar programs that alter the image are not allowed in PUBG because they can behave like a cheat. Uninstall them.

Can’t connect to the server

First check whether there is maintenance or an outage. Server status is posted by @PUBG_Support on X (Twitter). Then, according to support:

  • allow PUBG through Windows Firewall,
  • run TslGame.exe as administrator,
  • use a cable instead of Wi-Fi and update Windows,
  • set up port forwarding on your router,
  • in Command Prompt run ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /flushdns one after another,
  • turn off any VPN, or try a different connection.

Details are in the connectivity guide.

Crashes and what to send support

If the game keeps crashing, prepare material for a ticket. Crash dump files are in %localappdata%TslGameSavedCrashes. Zip them and send them to support together with a dxdiag report.

If you see “Frequency Out of Range” instead of the game, update your graphics driver or roll it back, and set the correct refresh rate for your monitor.

Bans, VAC and penalties

VAC is Steam’s anti-cheat and VAC bans are issued only by Steam, not by PUBG. PUBG penalties come from KRAFTON, and contacting support will not shorten them. Maximum penalties according to support:

OffenceMaximum penalty
unauthorized programs and hardwarepermanent ban
teamkilling, teaming, AFK, result manipulationpermanent ban
offensive language and names30 days
abnormal gameplay30 days
investigation of an unauthorized program3 days

PUBG does not run on Steam Deck. Steam lists it as unsupported because of its anti-cheat, and the same goes for SteamOS.

Reporting cheaters and protecting your account

Report a cheater with the in-game report, and the game tells you the outcome within 15 days. The other route is support: state the type of violation, date and time, the player’s name and attach a video of up to 20 MB. KRAFTON publishes a Weekly Bans Notice every week listing permanently banned accounts.

Protect your account with the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, which KRAFTON recommends. Since 22 July 2026 new rules apply to stolen accounts: with a secondary password set, an account can be unbanned after theft once every six months, at most twice a year. Without a secondary password, it is only once ever. If you are just starting out, our beginners guide is a good next read.

FAQ

Why won’t PUBG launch?

Most often because of damaged files, outdated drivers, overclocking or a program interfering with the game. Start by verifying files in Steam, updating Windows and your graphics driver and removing launch options.

How do I fix BattlEye Corrupted Data?

Close the game, delete the BattlEye folder in the game directory and verify the files in Steam. If that doesn’t help, do a clean reinstall including %localappdata%TslGame.

What does Driver Load Error (577) mean?

The BattlEye service failed to start, and support’s fix is to install Windows security updates through Windows Update or from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Does PUBG give VAC bans?

No. VAC is Steam’s anti-cheat and only Steam issues VAC bans. PUBG uses its own bans, for example a permanent ban for unauthorized programs and hardware.

Can I play PUBG on Steam Deck?

No. Steam lists PUBG as unsupported on Steam Deck and SteamOS because of its anti-cheat.
