To run The Finals on PC you need at least Windows 10 64-bit, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 580, while the recommended spec asks for an RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT and 16 GB of RAM. Below you will find both specs in a table, how much space the game takes, what the deal is with Steam Deck and what owners of Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs should know. All details are valid as of 20 October 2026.
Minimum and recommended PC requirements
Steam and Embark support list the same values. On PC the game runs on Windows only; there is no Mac or Linux version.

| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit or newer (latest updates) | Windows 10 64-bit or newer |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 580 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT |
| DirectX | version 12 | version 12 |
DirectX 12 is listed for both the minimum and the recommended spec. If your PC sits somewhere between the two, take a look at our FPS settings guide, which combines Embark’s official advice with settings two gaming outlets agree on.
How much space The Finals needs
Here is the catch: neither Steam nor Embark’s support lists the required disk space at all. The only official figure comes from the Microsoft Store, which shows the maximum download size of the package. The Microsoft Store lists roughly 87 GB for PC and 84 GB for Xbox.
On first launch, after a game or driver update and after changing graphics settings, the game preloads shaders and you will see Preloading Shaders counting from 0 to 100 %. That is normal and can take several minutes. What to do if it gets stuck is covered in our guide to errors and anti-cheat.
Steam Deck: playable, but not officially supported
Two things are true about Steam Deck at the same time:
- Steam rates The Finals as Playable on Deck. According to the test, the default controls work fully, the controller icons match the Deck and the default configuration performs well enough. The caveats: the on-screen keyboard does not pop up automatically for text input and some interface text is hard to read on the Deck’s screen.
- Embark does not officially support Steam Deck because the game depends on Proton Experimental. The studio does say it works on compatibility with partners. A native Linux version is not planned and generic Wine is not tested.
Patch notes show that the game does run on Deck. Hotfix 7.9.2 from 19 August 2025 fixed kicks with error TFAV3015 on Steam Deck and Proton, and Update 11.0.0 fixed the virtual keyboard when reporting a player on Steam Deck. If you run into a problem on Deck, though, official support may not be able to help.
Consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
On consoles The Finals is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PS4 version ended with the start of Season 10 in March 2026, so on PlayStation you can only play on PS5.
- PS5 and PS5 Pro: the PlayStation Store marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Update 10.3.0 added PSSR 2 upscaling support on PS5 Pro. Online play is required.
- Xbox Series X/S: the Microsoft Store lists, among other things, 120 fps, optimisation for the current console generation and ray tracing.
The game is free on every platform and PC, PS5 and Xbox play together. Prices, crossplay and Embark ID are covered in our free-to-play guide. The game is also available through GeForce NOW.
Warning for Intel Core 13th and 14th gen
Do you have an Intel Core 13th or 14th gen processor? The Embark Game Boot launcher may show a CPU instability warning at startup. In that case Embark recommends updating your motherboard BIOS to a version with microcode 0x12F or newer. The warning does not block the game; the Ignore button lets you continue.
If the game opens a Hardware Tester window after a crash, it may point to CPU or memory instability. Embark’s steps are in our article on game crashes.
