Overwatch 2 runs on fairly old PCs: the minimum is an Intel Core i3, 6 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 600 or Radeon HD 7000 series graphics card, you need 50 GB of free storage, and on PC it only runs on Windows. Since February 2026 the game is officially called just Overwatch, but the requirements did not change with the name. Below you will find the minimum and recommended specs from Steam, the Steam Deck rating and the download size on Xbox. Everything is checked as of 20 October 2026.
Minimum and recommended PC requirements
Blizzard publishes the requirements on the game’s Steam page. Both setups assume 64-bit Windows 10 and DirectX 11:
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack) | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650 | Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5 |
| Memory | 6 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 series or AMD Radeon HD 7000 series | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / GTX 1650, AMD R9 380 / RX 6400 or Intel Arc A770 |
| DirectX | version 11 | version 11 |
| Network | broadband connection | broadband connection |
| Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
The minimum setup requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. In the recommended list, Blizzard also names the Intel Arc A770 next to NVIDIA and AMD cards.
You will not get far without the internet. Overwatch is online only, so a broadband connection appears even in the minimum requirements. For prices and platforms, see our guide on whether Overwatch is free.
How much space the game takes
On PC, plan for 50 GB of free space for both the minimum and the recommended setup. For what the latest season added, see our current season guide.

On Xbox the download is bigger. The Microsoft Store lists a maximum download size of up to roughly 137 GB for the Overwatch packages. The store offers two packages, but the catalogue does not say which one belongs to which console generation, so plan for the upper limit on Xbox.
Windows only: no Mac or Linux
The Steam version of Overwatch runs on Windows only. Blizzard offers no Mac or Linux client on Steam. If you are on a Mac, Steam will not help you here.
Overwatch on Steam Deck
Valve rates the game as Playable on Steam Deck. That means it runs, but you may need to adjust a few things yourself. Valve’s test lists three specific caveats:
- When the game asks you to type text, it does not bring up the on-screen keyboard automatically. You have to open it yourself.
- Some interface text is hard to read on the Deck’s screen.
- According to Valve, the default settings do not give enough performance, so you will need to tweak the graphics.
On the plus side, the default controls and controller icons already match the Deck, so you will not be looking at keyboard prompts. We do not recommend specific Deck graphics settings, because we have no official source to back them up.
Controllers on PC
On Steam, Overwatch has full controller support. Both DualShock and DualSense work, so you can play on PC with a PlayStation controller too. If you play with friends on other devices, it also helps to know that the game supports crossplay.
Consoles: Xbox, PlayStation and Switch 2
For Overwatch on Xbox, the Microsoft Store lists 4K, HDR, 60 and 120 fps and ray tracing. The game is marked “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”, supports keyboard and mouse on console and offers cross-gen multiplayer, so older and newer Xbox generations can play together.
The game is also out on PS5 and PS4, and since the 14 April 2026 patch officially on Nintendo Switch 2, where you download it from the Nintendo eShop. On consoles you only need to think about storage. Before jumping into matches, read how the game modes work.
