Rocket League runs even on an older computer. According to the Epic and Steam stores, the minimum is a 2.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and a GeForce 760 or Radeon R7 270X graphics card, you need 20 GB of storage, and the game runs on Windows only. On the Steam Deck it is rated Verified. Here are the full requirements, what they mean for your PC, how controllers fit in and how much space the game takes on Xbox. The information is valid as of 20 October 2026.
Minimum and recommended PC requirements
The Epic Games Store and Steam list the same values. Neither store has updated them in a long time, Windows 7 is still listed, so treat them as a rough lower bound rather than an exact performance calculation.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 7 (64-bit) or newer 64-bit Windows | 64-bit Windows |
| Processor | 2.5 GHz, dual core | 3.0+ GHz, quad core |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce 760 / AMD Radeon R7 270X or better | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 470 or better |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Storage | 20 GB | 20 GB |
Steam also lists a broadband internet connection and recommends playing with a gamepad or controller. The stores give no frame rate figures or recommended graphics settings, so we don’t estimate any here.
What this means for your PC
If you have a computer from recent years with 64-bit Windows and at least a quad-core processor, you will very likely meet the recommended spec. The GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 470 are older mid-range cards. If you are on a laptop with integrated graphics, compare it with the minimum spec, because the graphics chip is usually the deciding factor.

Storage is the same in both columns, 20 GB. Keep in mind that the store lists the size of the game itself, so leave yourself some extra room on the drive for season updates.
Windows only and an Epic Games account
On PC, Rocket League officially runs on Windows only. Steam does not tick Mac or Linux for the game, and Epic lists Windows only as well. That is why you won’t find guides for other systems here.
On PC you download the game from the Epic Games Store and need an Epic Games account. As of 20 October 2026, the Steam page offers no purchase or download. Why, and where you can play for free, is summed up in our platforms guide. If you play on several devices, linking your accounts is worth it, see the account linking guide.
Steam Deck
On the Steam Deck, Rocket League is rated Verified. Valve confirms that the controls, button icons, text legibility and default performance are all fine. The catch is that this applies to players who already own the game on Steam. You cannot pick it up there as a new player, because the store page offers no purchase or download.
Controller or mouse and keyboard
Steam explicitly recommends a gamepad or controller for the game. You can still play on mouse and keyboard. Since Season 24, which started on 23 September 2026, the game has new default mouse and keyboard controls with a Free Look camera and an optional centre dot on screen. The new controls are the default for new players on mouse and keyboard. More on getting started, modes and controls is in our beginner’s guide.
Size and performance on consoles
The Microsoft Store lists a maximum package download size of roughly 51.6 GB for Xbox. So expect the game to take more space on a console than the PC stores state. On Xbox, the Microsoft Store says the game supports 4K, HDR, 60 and 120 fps and is optimised for Xbox Series X|S.
The PlayStation Store offers the PS4 version, which you run on PS5 through backward compatibility. The store notes that some features available on PS4 may be absent on PS5. We did not pull the PlayStation download size for this guide.
