Rocket League ranked: ranks, placements and season rewards

Ranked in Rocket League (the game calls it Competitive) has eight ranks from Bronze to Supersonic Legend. New players unlock rated matches by completing the New Driver Challenges, you get your first rank in a playlist after 10 matches, and every season starts with a soft reset. Here is the full ladder, how placements work, how season rewards are counted and what changes between seasons. The information is valid as of 20 October 2026, so for Season 24.

Ranks in Rocket League

Ranks in Rocket League are grouped into tiers, levels that share the same name. Psyonix lists them in its season reward overviews. Within a tier there are steps marked with Roman numerals, for example Bronze I or Gold I.

OrderTierNote
1BronzeLowest tier, steps start at Bronze I
2SilverSteps with Roman numerals
3GoldSteps with Roman numerals
4PlatinumSteps with Roman numerals
5DiamondSteps with Roman numerals
6ChampionSteps with Roman numerals
7Grand ChampionTitle rewards in Extra Modes too
8Supersonic LegendThe highest rank in the game

Psyonix does not state how many rating points each rank means or how many players sit in it in the announcements we use. Since Season 22, however, the game shows your matchmaking rating directly, so you can see how it moves after each match.

How you get into ranked

Since Season 20, new accounts first have to complete the New Driver Challenges, a set of challenges for new drivers in the Challenges menu. Only then do the Competitive playlists unlock. Previously, reaching Level 20 was enough. The challenges also measure your skill, and the game uses them to set your starting rank. How the challenges work and what else to learn as a new player is in our beginner’s guide.

Placements: your first 10 matches

Your rank is tracked separately for each Competitive playlist (a playlist is the queue for one mode, such as 2v2 or 3v3). After 10 matches in a playlist, you receive a rank. From then on the rule is simple: wins move you up, losses move you down.

Your rank is tied to your account, not to your console. When you link your Epic Games account to other platforms, your Competitive Rank is shared on every connected platform, along with your inventory and Rocket Pass tier. The steps are covered in our account linking guide.

Soft reset at the start of each season

At the start of every season, Psyonix applies a soft rank reset in all Competitive playlists. Unlike a full reset, you don’t start from zero: your rank is only partly pulled back and you win it back during the new season. Psyonix described it the same way in the Season 20 and Season 22 announcements: similar to previous seasons, a soft rank reset has been applied.

Season rewards

Ranked rewards arrive at the end of a season. The rules according to Psyonix:

  • Win 10 matches in a tier to qualify for its reward.
  • You keep the reward even if you drop to a lower tier by the end of the season.
  • Rewards arrive at the start of the next season, based on the highest rank you reached.

Grand Champion and Supersonic Legend come with title rewards not only in Soccar but also in the Extra Modes Rumble, Hoops and Snowday. That is how Psyonix listed the Season 19 rewards.

Which playlists are ranked

The line-up of ranked playlists changes between seasons, so always check the current state in the game. Two examples of how the rotation changed (from the patch notes):

  • Season 20 added Competitive 4v4 (Quads), but only for one season.
  • Season 22 kept Snowday in ranked, brought back Ranked Dropshot, removed 4v4 (it stayed in Casual) and added 2v2 Ranked Heatseeker.

The backbone is Soccar, the classic football mode, in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. These three are also the formats with global leaderboards.

Top 100 titles in Season 24

In Season 24, the top 100 players on the global Soccar leaderboards for 3v3, 2v2 and 1v1 receive exclusive titles. In 3v3, places 100 to 51 get the title “S24 3V3 TOP 100”, places 50 to 26 get “S24 3V3 TOP 50”, and the titles narrow all the way down to first place. What else the season brought is covered in our Season 24 guide.

Tournaments

Besides regular ranked, the game has Competitive Tournaments. Entry is free and you play against teams in your rank. Wins earn you Tournament Credits, a separate currency for tournaments.
