Genshin Impact pity: 90 wishes, the 50/50 and Capturing Radiance

In Genshin Impact you get a 5-star character on the event banner within 90 wishes at the latest, and a 5-star weapon within 80. The first 5-star character has a 50% chance of being the featured (rate-up) one, and Capturing Radiance can trigger on top of that. Every number here comes from the rules in the in-game Details window and is valid as of 20 October 2026, during version 7.1.

The three banner types in Genshin

Wishes in Genshin run on three banner types. Each has its own rates and its own pity, the guarantee after a set number of pulls:

BannerBase 5-star chanceConsolidated incl. guarantee5-star guaranteeFeatured chance
Character Event Wish (characters)0.6%1.6%within 90 wishes50% featured character, plus Capturing Radiance
Epitome Invocation (weapons)0.7%1.85%within 80 wishes75% one of the two featured weapons
Wanderlust Invocation (standard)0.6% (character 0.3%, weapon 0.3%)1.6%within 90 wishesno featured items

The base probability is the chance per wish. The consolidated probability also counts the guarantee, which is why it is higher. You can check both in game in the Wish screen under the Details button at the bottom left.

Character Event Wish: 90-wish pity and the 50/50

On the character banner you get a 5-star character within 90 wishes at the latest. According to Details, your first 5-star has a 50% chance (not counting Capturing Radiance) of being the featured character. If it is not, the next 5-star character is guaranteed to be. That is the 50/50.

For 4-stars the base chance is 5.1% and the consolidated chance 13%. You get at least one 4-star or higher item within 10 wishes (of that guarantee, 99.4% is a 4-star and 0.6% a 5-star). The first 4-star has a 50% chance of being one of the three featured 4-star characters, otherwise the next one is guaranteed to be.

Shared counter

Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2 share the pity counter, so wishes on both parallel character banners add up. The counter is independent of the weapon and standard banners, and wishes there do not count towards it.

Capturing Radiance

Capturing Radiance arrived with version 5.0. When you have no guarantee, it can trigger as you get a 5-star and give you the featured character. Details states:

  • The base probability of triggering Capturing Radiance is 0.018%.
  • Including Capturing Radiance, the consolidated probability that a 5-star character is the featured one is 55%.
  • If the featured 5-star character is the second 5-star character you obtain on three consecutive occasions, Capturing Radiance is guaranteed to trigger the next time you get a 5-star character.

When version 5.0 launched, GamesRadar+ described it as the 50/50 turning into a “55/45”.

Epitome Invocation and Epitomized Path

The weapon banner gives a 5-star weapon within 80 wishes. The first 5-star weapon has a 75% chance of being one of the two featured ones, otherwise the next one is guaranteed to be featured.

That is where Epitomized Path comes in: you choose one of the featured weapons. If a different 5-star weapon drops, you get 1 Fate Point. Once your Fate Points reach the maximum, your next 5-star weapon is the one you chose. Fate Points only last for the current banner period and then reset. Changing your chosen weapon resets them too.

Wanderlust Invocation: the standard banner

The standard banner gives a 5-star item within 90 wishes and has a base chance of 0.6%, split evenly between characters and weapons. You get a 4-star within 10 wishes. Limited characters from event banners do not appear on the standard banner. In Details, HoYoverse adds that all event items may become available again in the future.

What a duplicate 5-star character gives you

Extra copies of a 5-star character turn into Stella Fortuna and Starglitter:

  • up to the sixth Stella Fortuna, a duplicate gives Stella Fortuna ×1 and Masterless Starglitter ×10,
  • after that, Masterless Stella Fortuna ×1 and Masterless Starglitter ×25.
