Dune Awakening: Testing Station 89

Dune Awakening: Testing Station 89

Testing Station 89 is the radiation run, and the hard one at that. Radiation keeps pressing on you the whole time, and the second lockdown throws more than twenty enemies at a solo player. It’s not for farming, but clearing it reliably says more about your build than any other station.

Estimated timeDifficultyCore challenge
25–30 minuteshardtwo lockdowns and a boss under constant radiation

The route is linear: entrance corridor with side doors → lockdown 1 → colored ID gates → lockdown 2 (the room with twenty enemies) → final corridor → boss room. The difficulty comes from attrition and numbers, not navigation.

What you actually need

  • Radiation Suit MK6: you won’t clear it reliably without one.
  • Cutteray. There are plenty of locked doors, and some of them are on the main route.
  • Bandages and medkits. You’ll find some inside, but don’t count on it.
  • Durable gear for long fights against large numbers of enemies.
  • A full Literjon: stamina is what lets you kite.
  • Iodine pills on higher difficulties, specifically for the second lockdown and the boss.

Part one: the blue band and the first lockdown

  1. Go inside and follow the entrance path.
  2. Pick up the Blue ID Band and go through the first blue shield doors.

This corridor has several cutteray-locked doors, and most of them just cost you time. The worthwhile chests are behind three: the first door straight ahead of you, and the first and last doors on the right.

Lockdown 1 is quick: two enemies and then one wave of three. After it there’s an optional room behind blue shield doors with a medium chest that often has strong materials. If you’re not racing the clock, it’s worth the stop.

Part two: the orange band and the brutal lockdown

  1. Enter the next room and go through the cutteray-locked door.
  2. Take out the two enemies inside.
  3. Go through another cutteray door to grab the Orange ID Band.
  4. The orange band opens the orange shield doors, which lead straight into the hardest lockdown in the whole station.

Lockdown 2 is five waves and roughly twenty enemies solo. What saves you is that they only spawn from one side, usually the left as you enter, on the upper floor.

  • Hold the opposite upper floor. Height and a single access corridor are the entire strategy.
  • Pick off melee enemies first so nobody catches you while you reload.
  • Watch the radiation. Even a perfect position doesn’t change the fact that the room is contaminated. You can play slowly, but not forever. When the meter rises faster than the waves go down, reach for an iodine pill.

Lieutenant Aman

The boss speeds up right at the start and becomes manageable once you stick to one consistent style instead of reacting phase by phase. Keep the radiation timer in mind: this is where an unprepared attempt runs out of margin, which is why iodine belongs in your pack before you go in. Is it worth running?

For farming, no: stations 136 and 152 are shorter and safer with the same reward pool. As a benchmark, yes: if you clear 89 reliably, your gear and consumable planning are genuinely ready for high-tier augmentation runs.

FAQ

Can Station 89 be done without a radiation suit?

Not reliably. The radiation pressure lasts through the entire station, and MK6 protection is what makes the long lockdown survivable.

How many enemies are in the second lockdown?

Five waves, roughly twenty enemies solo. They come from one side, which is why holding the opposite floor works.

Which cutteray doors are worth opening?

In the entrance corridor, the first door straight ahead of you and the first and last doors on the right. The rest cost more time than they give back.

Do I need iodine pills?

On higher difficulties, yes, mainly for the second lockdown and the boss, where you can’t just step back and let the radiation wear off.

How long does a run take?

25 to 30 minutes, the longest of the three stations we cover here.

Information verified as of 7 September 2026. The layout and the colored band system are fixed; enemy counts scale with difficulty. More guides are in the Dune: Awakening section: stations 152 and 136, the augmentation system and all 25 Houses.
