Cyberpunk 2077 in version 2.x needs at least an Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 12 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB class graphics card and an SSD with 70 GB of free space. Below you’ll find the minimum and recommended specs from Steam, CD PROJEKT RED’s official table for ray tracing and path tracing, what an Apple silicon Mac needs and how the game runs on Steam Deck. Everything applies to version 2.31, the latest patch as of 20 October 2026.
Minimum and recommended PC requirements
These are the requirements currently listed on the game’s Steam page. They cover Windows and the current 2.x version, so ignore any older numbers from the 2020 launch.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i7-6700 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / Radeon RX 580 8GB / Arc A380 | GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER / Radeon RX 5700 XT / Arc A770 |
| Storage | 70 GB, SSD required | 70 GB, SSD |
The minimum spec also lists DirectX 12. You can always check the current wording on the Steam store page.
CD PROJEKT RED’s official table: FPS targets and ray tracing
CD PROJEKT RED published a more detailed breakdown in June 2023 in its requirements update. The table applies from Update 2.0 onwards and already accounts for the Phantom Liberty expansion. Each profile states which settings and frame rate the hardware is meant to hit:
- Minimum – Low settings, 1080p, 30 FPS.
- Recommended – High settings, 1080p, 60 FPS.
- Ultra – 2160p (4K), 60 FPS.
For the higher profiles and ray tracing, the studio lists specific hardware:
| Profile | Target | CPU | GPU | VRAM | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultra | 2160p, 60 FPS | i9-12900 / Ryzen 9 7900X | RTX 3080 / RX 7900 XTX | 12 GB | 20 GB | 70 GB NVMe |
| RT Minimum | RT Low, 1080p, 30 FPS | i7-9700 / Ryzen 5 5600 | RTX 2060 / RX 6800 XT / Arc A750 | 8 GB | 16 GB | SSD |
| RT Recommended | RT Ultra, 1080p, 60 FPS | i9-12900 / Ryzen 9 7900X | RTX 3080 Ti / RX 7900 XTX | 12 GB | 20 GB | NVMe |
| RT Overdrive | 2160p, 60 FPS | i9-12900 / Ryzen 9 7900X | RTX 4080 | 16 GB | 24 GB | NVMe |
One small catch: the 2023 table lists a different AMD processor in the recommended spec than Steam does today. Where the two disagree, go with the current Steam listing.
Path tracing (RT Overdrive) and how to turn it on
Path tracing arrived with Patch 1.62 on 11 April 2023 as the Ray Tracing: Overdrive mode, labelled a technology preview at the time. You switch it on under Settings → Graphics, either by picking the preset or with the separate Path Tracing option. The details are in the Patch 1.62 notes.

It’s the most demanding mode in the game. CD PROJEKT RED measured the 2160p, 60 FPS target on an RTX 4080 with DLSS Frame Generation switched on, so expect a lower frame rate without frame generation.
An SSD is a must, HDDs are out
Since Update 2.0, CD PROJEKT RED no longer supports hard disk drives. The game streams content slowly from an HDD, so the studio advises against running it from one. The same advice applies to the microSD card on Steam Deck. If your PC has both an SSD and an HDD, install the game on the SSD.
Upscaling and frame generation from Update 2.3
Update 2.3 expanded upscaler and frame generation support on PC:
- AMD FSR 4 (with the AMD driver).
- FSR 3.1 Frame Generation, which can be combined with any upscaler.
- Intel XeSS 2.0 plus XeSS Frame Generation.
- HDR10+ GAMING on Intel GPUs.
- DLSS with a choice between the CNN and Transformer models.
Everything else the patch changed is covered in our Update 2.3 overview.
Mac requirements
The game came to Apple silicon Macs with Update 2.3 (17 July 2025) as the Ultimate Edition. You can buy it on the Mac App Store or in the PC stores. If you already own it on GOG.com, Steam or the Epic Games Store, you can play on a compatible Mac without buying it again.
- Minimum (Steam): macOS 15.5 or later, Apple M1, 16 GB RAM, 92 GB of storage.
- Recommended (Steam): Apple M3 Pro, 18 GB RAM.
Which platforms the game is on and what each edition costs is covered in our editions and prices guide.
Steam Deck
Cyberpunk 2077 is Verified on Steam Deck. CD PROJEKT RED announced it on 28 February 2023. Install the game on internal storage rather than a microSD card to avoid slow loading.
How much space the game takes
- PC (Steam): 70 GB on an SSD.
- Mac: 92 GB.
- Nintendo Switch 2: 60.6 GB.
On consoles there’s no spec sheet to worry about. PS5 Pro owners got a free update on 8 April 2026 with PSSR and three graphics modes (Ray Tracing, Performance and Ray Tracing Pro).
