Epic has handed the shape of competitive Fortnite over to the community. A vote is now running on the format of the upcoming FNCS season, and you get to pick between duos and trios. There is no poll on social media this time – the whole thing happens inside the game.
Where and how you vote
The vote takes place on the official Legends Landing island, which you can load up using the island code 2325-4055-3398. Your voice is not a one-time thing either: you can vote repeatedly, once every 24 hours. If you feel strongly about duos or trios, it pays to come back daily until the poll closes.

The result drops at the Global Championship
According to the official announcement, the outcome will be revealed during the Fortnite Global Championship, which takes place on September 26 and 27 in Antwerp, Belgium. That event itself still runs under the current rules – this year’s world finals stay a duos affair.
Fifty of the best duos in the world will show up, and across the two days they will play a total of 12 matches for a share of a $2 million prize pool. In other words, the biggest Fortnite stage of the year doubles as the moment you find out what the next season will look like.
Why it matters for players
Trios used to be one of the traditional FNCS formats, while the main 2026 championship is being played in pairs. A switch back to three-player squads would change how teams are built, how scrims are organized and how you plan your own competitive season – from finding a third player to relearning rotations and endgame positioning.
