V-Bucks are Fortnite’s in-game currency. You spend them on outfits, pickaxes, emotes, wraps and Fortnite passes. Since 19 March 2026 the four standard packs contain 800, 2,400, 4,500 and 12,500 V-Bucks, and their price in local currency depends on your country. This guide explains what changed in March 2026, how Epic Rewards gives you 20 % back, how to redeem a gift card and what you cannot do with V-Bucks. Everything reflects the state on 20 October 2026.
V-Bucks packs since March 2026
Epic quotes its pack tiers in US dollars and adds that other countries use regional values. The price you pay in your currency is shown in the store on your platform or on fortnite.com for your region.
| Price tier (USD) | V-Bucks until 19 March 2026 | V-Bucks from 19 March 2026 | Of which bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 1,000 | 800 | 0 |
| $22.99 | 2,800 | 2,400 | 350 |
| $36.99 | 5,000 | 4,500 | 1,200 |
| $89.99 | 13,500 | 12,500 | 4,450 |
Larger packs give you more V-Bucks per unit of money. In the Czech store on 20 October 2026, fortnite.com labelled them 17, 37 and 55 % “Extra” compared with the smallest pack. Before buying a big pack, work out what you actually plan to spend. The Battle Pass alone needs just 800 V-Bucks.
What changed on 19 March 2026
Epic announced on 10 March 2026 that packs would contain fewer V-Bucks from 19 March 2026. The price tiers stayed the same, only the number of V-Bucks went down. Epic’s stated reason is that the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot.
The same announcement raised the price of the Exact Amount Pack: 50 V-Bucks now cost $0.99, up from roughly $0.50. If you still have an older V-Bucks gift card, it redeems for the value printed on it.
The Battle Pass went the other way and dropped from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks, so it still fits into the smallest pack. The details are in Epic’s announcement.
Epic Rewards: 20 % back
Buying V-Bucks on fortnite.com sends you to the Epic Games Store. Purchases in Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League made through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system on PC, iOS, Android and the web earn you 20 % back as Epic Rewards credit. You can spend that credit in Fortnite, in other Epic games or in the Epic Games Store.
This applies only to payments through Epic on the platforms listed. Consoles are not on that list.
Where to buy V-Bucks safely
Buy V-Bucks only through official channels: in the game, on fortnite.com, in the Epic Games Store or as a gift card from a regular retailer. There is only one place to redeem a card:
- Sign in to your Epic Games account. You cannot redeem a card without one.
- Go to
fortnite.com/vbuckscard. - Enter the code. The full value is redeemed at once and credited to a single account.
Cards have no fees and do not expire. Epic does not replace lost or stolen cards, so never share the code and keep the card safe until you redeem it.
Watch out for region-locked cards. A card with a regional flag in the top left corner can only be redeemed on an Epic or PSN account from the same region. According to Epic, cards from Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom carry regional restrictions. A UK card will not work on a German account, for example.
V-Bucks cards are gradually being replaced by the new Fortnite gift cards. Those buy V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, bundles, games and DLC in the Epic Games Store and content on fab.com. Epic is rolling them out region by region.
What you cannot do with V-Bucks
- Transfer them to another account. V-Bucks stay on the account where you bought or redeemed them.
- Get your money back. V-Bucks packs are non-refundable and unused V-Bucks are not paid out. Epic suggests gifting Item Shop items to friends instead.
- Use Nintendo V-Bucks elsewhere. Thanks to the Shared Wallet, V-Bucks redeemed on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile and cloud work on all of those platforms. V-Bucks from a card redeemed on a Nintendo device stay on Nintendo.
What things cost in the Item Shop
The Item Shop rotates and prices vary by item. On 20 October 2026, for example, emotes cost 500 V-Bucks and outfits 1,200 to 2,000 V-Bucks. Bundles are often discounted: the Wednesday Bundle cost 2,500 instead of 4,000 V-Bucks. How the shop and skins work is covered in our Fortnite skins guide, and what you pay for at all is explained in is Fortnite free.

Free V-Bucks and generators are scams
“Free V-Bucks” tutorials and V-Bucks generators are scams. Epic’s account security advice warns against suspicious offers of free V-Bucks, especially ones that ask for your login details on outside sites. Officially, V-Bucks are bought only through the channels above and cards are redeemed only at fortnite.com/vbuckscard. How to spot these scams is covered in our Fortnite codes guide.
Buying V-Bucks for a child? Epic offers a purchase PIN and a daily spending cap, but they do not cover every purchase. Our guide to Fortnite parental controls explains exactly what is covered.
