GTA 4 has no cheat console and no button combos. Every cheat is a phone number you dial on the in-game mobile, on PC and on consoles alike. Below you’ll find every number that independent outlets agree on: health, weapons, wanted level, weather and vehicles for the base game, plus the extra codes from both episodes, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. The list applies to GTA IV: The Complete Edition and the original releases, as of 19 October 2026.
How to enter cheats in GTA 4
Unlike the older games in the series, GTA IV doesn’t let you type codes or tap in button sequences. The phone is the only way in, whether you play on PC or console. It works the same every time:
- Pull out the in-game phone while you’re playing.
- Dial the full number from the tables below, including the 555 in the middle.
- Call it the same way you’d call any contact in the game.
Once you’ve used a number, the phone saves it to its Cheats menu. Next time you can simply pick it from the list instead of typing it again, which is handy for the ones you’ll use constantly, like health or clearing your wanted level.
Health, weapons and wanted level
These numbers work in the base game and in both episodes. There are two weapon sets, a basic one and an advanced one.

Cars, bikes, a helicopter and a boat are spawned the same way as every other cheat, just with a different number. All of them work in GTA IV and both episodes.

The base GTA IV codes carry over into the episodes, but each episode also adds its own numbers that don’t work anywhere else. The Lost and Damned is mostly about bikes and gang vehicles.

Achievements and saving
Some cheats temporarily block achievements. Before you dial anything, save to a separate slot so you can always go back to a clean save. If you’re hunting every achievement, keep cheats for free roaming after the story.
Where to play GTA 4 today
GTA IV came out in 2008, with The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony following a year later. On PC, the version on sale is GTA IV: The Complete Edition, on Steam since 24 March 2020, which bundles the base game and both episodes for €19.99. The standalone Episodes from Liberty City from 2010 doesn’t require the original GTA IV.
On Steam the game has 55 achievements and a Metacritic score of 90. The minimum requirements are modest: Windows 10 64-bit, 1.5 GB of RAM and 22 GB of disk space.
