Mafia: The Old Country needs at least an NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT with 8 GB of VRAM, a Ryzen 7 2700X or Core i7-9700K, 16 GB of RAM and 55 GB of storage on an SSD, which is mandatory. On Steam Deck, Valve rates it as Unsupported. Below are the minimum, recommended and Epic specs from 2K, the graphics options, what to do if performance is poor, and where your save files live. PC requirements: minimum, recommended and Epic
The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and is Windows-only on Steam. All three tiers come from 2K (the Steam store page and the PC specs announcement of 31 July 2025), and each one lists the resolution and preset it targets.

A traditional hard drive will not do, an SSD is required even at minimum spec. Plan for 55 GB of free space. The full list is on 2K Support.
Graphics features and frame rate
The PC version offers Low, Medium, High, Epic and Custom presets. You can cap the frame rate at 30, 40, 60, 90, 120 or 144 FPS, or leave it Unlimited. Cutscenes run at 30 FPS.
According to 2K Support, the default cap is 30 FPS. If the game feels choppy after installing, unlock it under Main Menu > Options > Settings > Graphics.
Other features include:
- TSR, DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 3 upscaling (versions since the 14 August 2026 update),
- Frame Generation on supported hardware,
- V-Sync with VRR support,
- ultrawide and HDR support,
- keyboard remapping.
What to do if the game runs poorly
The 2K troubleshooting guide recommends these steps:
- Update your graphics drivers.
- Lower
Render Resolution, for example to 75–80%. - Switch from TSR to DLSS, FSR or XeSS, depending on what your card supports.
- Lower the
Upscaling Mode.
If cutscenes stutter, turn off Frame Generation, which 2K lists as a known issue. And if the first launch greets you with a black screen, give it a moment: it clears on its own after about 12–15 seconds.
Mafia: The Old Country on Steam Deck
Valve rates the game as Unsupported on Steam Deck, citing graphics performance. The older games fare better: Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition are all rated Playable. Internet connection and save files
On PC you need an internet connection for the first launch. After that you mostly play offline, but the game asks to go online again after a major hardware change and on the first launch after an update. There is no online or multiplayer mode.

Consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
