If Marvel Rivals keeps crashing, will not launch, shows a DirectX 12 or Out of Video Memory error, or will not let you log in, start with the fixes published by NetEase’s official support. They are laid out here by error, step by step, with the exact names of the options in Windows and the launchers. The steps apply to PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and the NetEase launcher) as of 20 October 2026. We do not repeat advice from forums or Reddit.
Verify your game files first
According to NetEase, this is the first step for crashes, as its official guide explains. The check finds damaged or missing files and downloads them again:

- Steam: right-click Marvel Rivals in your library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
- Epic Games Store: right-click the game in your library > Manage > Verify.
- NetEase launcher: options button > Verify File Integrity.
Wait for any files to download, then launch the game again.
Errors and how to fix them
| Error | What NetEase recommends |
|---|---|
| “DirectX 12 is not supported” | Update Windows 10 64-bit (version 1909 or later) and your graphics driver. Your GPU must meet the minimum, a GTX 1060 or RX 580. |
| “Out of Video Memory” or crashes during shader compilation on 13th or 14th gen Intel Core | Update your BIOS following Intel’s or your motherboard maker’s instructions. If that does not help, contact your system manufacturer, Intel support or the retailer. |
| Frequent crashes during play | Verify game files, then enable GPU Debug Mode and do a clean install of the latest graphics driver. Add the game to your antivirus exceptions. Try “Switch Shader Compilation Mode” in the launcher. |
| Crash on launch, cannot enter a match or reconnect | Your antivirus or firewall may be blocking the game by mistake. Add it to the exceptions (steps below). |
| Cannot log in although the internet works | Possibly leftover proxy settings from a VPN or “game accelerator”. Turn the proxy off (steps below). |
| Stuttering | Clean install of the graphics driver and “High performance” for Marvel.exe in Windows. |
If you are not sure your PC can handle the game at all, check the requirements in our platforms and requirements guide. Stuttering and other performance tips are covered in our performance settings guide.
13th and 14th gen Intel Core
For these CPUs, NetEase puts a BIOS update and the manufacturer’s support first. Its page also describes an extra workaround with Intel XTU, where you lower the Performance Core Ratio by 2 to 3 steps (for example from 55x to 53x). That is a change to your CPU settings, though, so only consider it after the BIOS update, and if you are unsure, contact your system manufacturer or support instead.
Antivirus and firewall, step by step
According to NetEase’s technical FAQ, crashes on launch and trouble joining a match can be caused by an antivirus or firewall that mistakes the game process for a threat. The game’s main file is ~MarvelBinariesMarvel-Win64-Shipping.exe. Add it and the whole game folder to your antivirus exceptions. In Windows, do it like this:
- Open Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage Settings.
- Find Controlled Folder Access and add Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe to it.
- Open Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app through the firewall.
- Allow Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe on both private and public networks.
- Launch the game again.
Cannot log in: proxy and VPN
If websites load in your browser but the game will not log you in, a proxy left behind by a VPN or “game accelerator” may be the cause. NetEase lists two ways to check:
- Search Windows for proxy settings and turn off “Use a proxy server”.
- Or open Command Prompt as administrator and run
netsh winhttp show proxy. - If the result shows a proxy, run
netsh winhttp reset proxy. - Restart your PC and try logging in again.
Mods that trip the anti-cheat
Some mods work with the game’s memory the same way cheats do and trigger the anti-cheat. On 15 October 2026 NetEase named the files pystubber.asi and MarvelRivalsUnmountBlocker.asi, which you should delete along with every change the mod made to the game. What else can get you banned is covered in our penalties and bans guide.
When nothing helps: diagnostics and support
NetEase has its own diagnostic tool whose output helps support find the cause:
- Close the game.
- In the game folder, run
client_diagnose.exe. - Click Analyze and wait for it to finish.
- It creates a file named
diagnose_yyyy_mm_dd_xx_xx_xx.zip. Send it to support via the official Discord.
Support contacts: email marvel_rivals@global.netease.com and the official Marvel Rivals Discord.
NetEase has also published guides on enabling Memory Integrity (Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation) and Kernel DMA Protection in Windows. The guides do not say when the game requires them, so we do not go into them here.

FAQ
Update Windows 10 64-bit to version 1909 or later and update your graphics driver. Your GPU must meet the minimum, a GTX 1060 or RX 580.
NetEase links it to 13th and 14th gen Intel Core CPUs. It recommends updating your BIOS following Intel or your motherboard maker, then contacting your system manufacturer, Intel support or the retailer.
If your internet works, a proxy left by a VPN or game accelerator may be to blame. Turn off Use a proxy server in Windows, or run netsh winhttp reset proxy in Command Prompt as administrator and restart.
Right-click the game in your library, open Properties, go to Installed Files and choose Verify Integrity of Game Files.
Send the diagnose_….zip file from client_diagnose.exe via the official Marvel Rivals Discord. Support can also be reached at marvel_rivals@global.netease.com.
