Arc System Works used EVO France to put all its cards on the table. After the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls tournament wrapped and Zando was crowned champion, the studio rolled a new trailer that confirmed every remaining character of the Year One Character Pass – plus the release windows you can plan around and one extra stage.
It has been a loaded stretch for the game. Just days earlier, Arc System Works had finally given the first DLC fighter a proper showcase, and now you know exactly who follows over the next ten months or so.
Phoenix Cyclops arrives on November 2, 2026
Phoenix Cyclops was originally announced back in July at San Diego Comic-Con, but it took until early October for a real gameplay trailer of this twisted take on the classic X-Men leader to show up. He mixes his signature optic blasts with fire-based attacks, and tapping into the Dark Phoenix gives you extra power at the cost of your own health – a risk-reward layer baked right into the character.
His release date is set for November 2, 2026. Notably, the trailer ended without the usual teaser sting that Arc System Works has made a habit of in Tokon promos. As it turned out, you didn’t have to wait long for the rest.
The Mighty Thor is DLC number two
The EVO France trailer introduced the second DLC fighter: The Mighty Thor. Loki handles the intro, someone steps up to Mjölnir, and the familiar line about whoever holds the hammer and is worthy possessing the power of Thor plays out. Many assumed the hand belonged to Thor himself – instead, Arc System Works went with Jane Foster’s version of the Asgardian.
No gameplay was shown for her yet. Jane Foster is planned for a Winter 2027 launch, which realistically points to January or February 2027.
Venom, Klyntar and Jubilee close out Year One
The rest of the trailer laid out the full roadmap:
- Phoenix Cyclops – November 2, 2026
- The Mighty Thor (Jane Foster) – Winter 2027
- Venom plus a stage based on the Symbiote homeworld Klyntar – Spring 2027
- Jubilee – Summer 2027
Jubilee rounds out the lineup as the second X-Men pick of Year One. If you want to follow every drop as it lands, we collect everything in our Marvel Tokon news hub.
Two collaborations attached to the reveal
Arc System Works also confirmed a pair of guest collaborations. The drawn character designs shown at the end of the trailer were done by Peach Momoko, while Mighty Thor’s theme song is performed by Keiichi Okabe – the first guest composer on Marvel Tokon, known for his work across the NieR and Tekken series.
What it costs you
Each character and the Klyntar stage can be bought separately, or all at once through the Year One Character Pass. If you own the Ultimate Edition, you get every one of these as they release, no extra purchase needed. The official game page lives on Marvel’s site, with storefront listings on PlayStation, Steam and Epic Games Store.
None of these names were in the datamine
Here’s the curious part: not one of the newly revealed fighters showed up in the roster leak that made the rounds in August. Dataminers pulled a list from the game files featuring names like Daredevil, Doctor Strange, the Wasp and Gambit, yet the three remaining Year One characters were seemingly absent. That leaves the obvious question of whether those leaked names belong to Year 2 and beyond.
It wouldn’t be unprecedented. A similar datamine hit Guilty Gear Strive, another Arc System Works fighter, and one of the listed characters – fan favorite Jam Kuradoberi – didn’t actually show up in the game until five years later. Some names from that list still haven’t released at all.
If you’re playing on PC, it’s worth revisiting the PC launch apology and fix plan we covered separately before the DLC schedule kicks off.
