Oldřich „PR” Nový is still a teenager, and yet he is rewriting the history of Czech Counter-Strike. Three months after his move to MOUZ he is heading into his third Tier 1 final, and this one takes place on one of the most iconic stages in Counter-Strike esports – the Spodek arena in Katowice.
His MOUZ run so far reads like a highlight reel: a trophy straight away on debut at BLAST Bounty, another final at BLAST Open Fall, and now a third shot at silverware. If you want the earlier chapter of this Katowice run, we covered how PR carried MOUZ past FURIA.
Spirit beaten for the second time in one event
In both previous finals MOUZ ran into Team Spirit. This time they got them twice at the same tournament – first in the Swiss stage, then again in Saturday’s semifinal. And the second win tasted just as sweet.
The series opened on Dust II, where MOUZ stole the opponent’s pick 13:7. Then they gave their own map pick straight back, losing Mirage 5:13, so everything came down to the decider.
Nuke decided by the smallest details
Nuke was as tight as it gets and finished 13:11. The X factor sat on the MOUZ side of the server: PR closed the map with a 27-13 scoreline and comprehensively overshadowed Danil „donk” Kryshkovets. That kind of performance against that particular name is exactly why the whole scene is talking about the Czech youngster right now.
A bracket stacked with the world’s best
MOUZ did not get an easy route either. Their half of the bracket was made up of four teams from the TOP 5 of the world ranking. The fifth one is waiting in today’s title match: Team Vitality, who got past Aurora 2:1 in maps in yesterday’s semifinal.
There is a recent reason for Czech optimism. A month ago MOUZ finally broke a year-long losing streak against Vitality, and today they want to repeat it – this time with a trophy on the line.
