Diablo IV is no longer sold as a single box. It’s the base game plus two expansions, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred. This guide covers what everything costs on Steam, what the Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions include, why you don’t need to buy Vessel of Hatred separately and when Game Pass is enough. Prices are from the Czech Steam store in euros as of 19 October 2026.
What makes up Diablo IV
The base game is developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It has been on Steam since 17 October 2023 and is rated 18+ there. Wherever you buy it, you need a Battle.net account and an internet connection, even when you play solo.
Two paid expansions have been added since:
- Vessel of Hatred (on Steam since 7 October 2024) brought the Spiritborn class, the Nahantu region, Mercenaries, the cooperative Dark Citadel and the Party Finder.
- Lord of Hatred (28 April 2026) added the Paladin and Warlock classes, the Skovos region with its capital Temis, the Horadric Cube, the Talisman, the Loot Filter, War Plans, the Echoing Hatred mode and fishing. It also rebuilt the skill tree for all eight classes.
The key point for buying: Lord of Hatred includes Vessel of Hatred. Buy the newer expansion and the older one unlocks straight away. Both expansions still require the base game.
Steam prices as of 19 October 2026
These are full prices without discounts on the Czech Steam store:
| Product | Contents | Price (Steam, EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| Diablo IV Standard | base game only | €49.99 |
| Age of Hatred Collection | base game + Vessel of Hatred + Lord of Hatred Standard | €69.99 |
| Lord of Hatred Standard | expansion (Vessel of Hatred included) | €39.99 |
| Lord of Hatred Deluxe | Standard + cosmetics and Premium Battle Pass | €59.99 |
| Lord of Hatred Ultimate | Deluxe + more cosmetics and 3,000 Platinum | €89.99 |
If you already own the base game, you only need the expansion. Starting from scratch, the Age of Hatred Collection is cheaper than buying the base game and Lord of Hatred separately (€69.99 versus €89.98). Upgrades between expansion editions cost €20 (Standard to Deluxe), €30 (Deluxe to Ultimate) and €50 (Standard straight to Ultimate). You can also buy a higher edition in game.
Console stores set their own prices, and every store runs sales, so always check the current price on Steam or your platform’s store before you buy.
What the Lord of Hatred editions include
Standard
The Lord of Hatred expansion, Vessel of Hatred, the Paladin and Warlock classes, one extra stash tab, two extra character slots and three World of Warcraft decor items.
Deluxe
Everything in Standard, plus cosmetic packs for the Paladin (High Heavensguard) and Warlock (Infernal Apostle), the Skartaran Basilisk mount, the Skorch pet and the Premium Battle Pass. Our guide to the battle pass and shop explains how the pass works.
Ultimate
Everything in Deluxe, plus the Steed of the Shining Realm mount, Umbral Knights (six armour sets), two back trophies, two portal skins and 3,000 Platinum, the premium shop currency.
The editions differ only in cosmetics, the Premium Battle Pass and Platinum. The actual game content, meaning the expansion, both classes and the new region, is already in Standard.
What you get without an expansion
The base game keeps getting updates. Seasonal and Eternal characters receive base game updates even without an expansion. You can’t play the Spiritborn without Vessel of Hatred, though, or the Paladin and Warlock without Lord of Hatred.
Seasons increasingly assume you own the expansion. In Season 15, around 15% of Season Rank objectives require Lord of Hatred, including objectives for Rank VIII. More guides on seasons and progression are in the Diablo IV hub.
You buy per platform
Cross-progression keeps your characters on your Battle.net account, but the expansion is bought per platform. If you play on Xbox and on PC through Battle.net, you need to buy Lord of Hatred twice, and the second purchase gives no extra rewards. Our guide to crossplay and co-op covers playing across platforms.

Diablo IV arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 on 15 September 2026, released directly as the Age of Hatred Collection.
Game Pass and free trials
The base game of Diablo IV is in the Game Pass catalogue on PC and console (checked on the Czech market on 19 October 2026). Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred are not, so you buy them separately. Game Pass lets you play the base campaign, but for the Paladin, Warlock or Spiritborn you need an expansion.
Blizzard has also offered a free trial: from 15 to 21 September 2026, the base game was free to play on Steam with all classes up to level 30. That was a limited-time event, not a permanent offer. Our verdict after Lord of Hatred is in the Diablo 4 review.
Which one to buy

- You own the base game: Lord of Hatred Standard, with Vessel of Hatred included.
- You just want to try the campaign: Game Pass.
- You play the battle pass and want cosmetics: Deluxe, or Ultimate for the Platinum.
