Diablo 4 battle pass and shop: what costs real money

In Diablo 4, real money only buys cosmetics and access to the premium battle pass rewards, never character power. The battle pass comes as Reliquaries: everyone gets the free part, and the premium part costs Platinum, the game’s premium currency. This guide covers what the free and paid tracks include, how much Platinum the Premium and Deluxe Battle Pass cost, how Favor and the cosmetics shop work and what you get in the Lord of Hatred editions. Everything applies to Season 15 as of 19 October 2026.

What costs money in Diablo 4 and what doesn’t

  • Paid (Platinum): the premium Reliquaries, i.e. the paid part of the battle pass, and cosmetics in the shop.
  • Free through play: the free Reliquary, the Favor currency that unlocks rewards and Season Blessings bought with Smoldering Ashes.
  • Never for sale: gear, levels, Paragon or any other character power.

According to the developers, neither the battle pass nor the shop gives an in-game advantage. Reliquaries contain cosmetics only. The only seasonal bonuses that affect gameplay are Season Blessings, and they are free.

The battle pass as Reliquaries

Older guides describe a battle pass with 90 tiers. That is no longer accurate. The seasonal battle pass now consists of Reliquaries, reward sets you unlock with a currency called Favor, which you earn simply by playing. The free Reliquary is available to every player.

OptionPriceWhat it includes (Season 15)
Free Reliquaryfree3 weapon cosmetics, 1 Town Portal, 1 mount, 1 mount armor, 2× 100 Platinum
Premium Battle Pass Bundle1,000 Platinumall premium Reliquaries (bought one by one they would cost 1,500 Platinum in total)
Deluxe Battle Pass2,800 Platinumthe premium Reliquaries plus the Archangel of Justice set, Wings of Justice and the Lordling of Terror pet unlocked instantly

So the free Reliquary pays out 200 Platinum. That is not enough for Premium, but it is a head start if you want to buy something later.

How Favor works

Favor carries over from season to season, so unused currency isn’t lost. It is capped at 99 tokens, though. The Reliquary is also available on the Eternal realm, so you can progress the battle pass without a Seasonal character. Our seasons explainer covers Seasonal vs Eternal and what carries over at the end of a season.

Platinum: the premium currency

Platinum is Diablo 4’s premium currency. You buy it with real money or get it in certain editions of the game. You spend it on cosmetics in the shop and on the premium battle pass. The free Reliquary also gives you a small amount.

We could not verify the real-money prices of Platinum packs from an official store as of 19 October 2026, so we don’t list them here. Older conversions floating around online may be out of date. Check the current price in the store before you buy.

The cosmetics shop

In the shop you spend Platinum on cosmetic items. They have no effect on character power. The shop occasionally hands out free gifts too: from 1 to 6 June 2026, for example, it offered weapon cosmetics for the anniversary.

Game Pass subscribers also got free cosmetics in September 2026: a bundle of 57 items through My Benefits, which required linking your Xbox and Battle.net accounts. Blizzard has not said when the offer ends; the details are in our news on the Game Pass cosmetics. How platforms and your Battle.net account work together is explained in our crossplay and co-op guide.

Is Diablo 4 pay-to-win?

No. Money can’t buy better gear or a stronger character. The developers have stated explicitly that the battle pass doesn’t affect gameplay, and Reliquaries are purely cosmetic. Bonuses to drops or materials come only from Season Blessings, which you unlock by playing and spending Smoldering Ashes.
