Battlefield 6 bans: Javelin anticheat, what is banned and how to appeal

Battlefield 6 on PC is guarded by EA Javelin anticheat, and EA hands out locks, suspensions and bans for cheating. Here you will learn what EA counts as cheating, which hardware and software is prohibited (and what you are allowed to use), how a lock differs from a suspension and a ban, and how to appeal step by step. Everything is based on EA’s official rules and help pages as of 19 October 2026.

What EA Javelin anticheat is

EA Javelin is the anticheat Battlefield 6 requires on PC. It installs automatically with the game, and you cannot launch the game without it. Javelin relies on Secure Boot to detect and remove cheaters, which is why Secure Boot must be enabled on PC. Our Secure Boot guide walks you through it.

On 28 August 2026, EA tightened TPM 2.0 enforcement again. It had relaxed it temporarily, but cheaters abused that during Season 3.

What EA counts as cheating

According to EA’s rules for Battlefield 6, the following is prohibited:

  • aimbots, wallhacks and other third-party software,
  • tools that disconnect other players,
  • abusing bugs and exploits,
  • stat padding and win-trading,
  • teaming in Solo modes,
  • buying BFC (Battlefield Coins) outside official stores,
  • account sharing,
  • playing in a party with confirmed cheaters.

The last point is worth noting. If you intentionally party up with confirmed cheaters over several matches to boost your score or complete challenges, EA counts it as cheating, even if you do not run anything yourself. The full list is in the Battlefield 6 rules.

Prohibited hardware and software

EA explicitly names banned devices: XIM, Cronus Zen, Strikepack, Titan Two and controllers modified for turbo or macros. Remapping programs that bypass the anticheat and so-called “sound radars” are banned as well.

When Javelin detects a prohibited program, the game shows This software cannot be used at the same time as the game. EA lists Interception, AutoHotkey and reWASD among those programs. Their “compatibility modes” are not approved by EA, and using them can get you penalised.

On 10 September 2026, EA announced that the maker of Cronus Zen and Strike Pack (Collective Minds) had removed scripts for EA games.

What is allowed

Accessibility hardware is not banned. EA explicitly allows the Xbox Adaptive Controller, the PlayStation Access Controller and Steam Input.

Lock, suspension or ban

EA distinguishes three types of penalty:

PenaltyWhat it means
LockYour account is temporarily locked because of suspicious activity or sign-in.
SuspensionA temporary penalty.
BanA long-term or permanent penalty. A ban on your whole EA account only follows repeated or extreme violations.

Penalties add up. If you keep breaking the rules, EA can close your EA account entirely. To ban someone for cheating, EA needs clear evidence. EA does not publish how long specific bans last, so we do not offer an estimate here.

How to check your account and appeal

You handle both the penalty status and the appeal in EA’s Penalty History tool:

  1. Open Penalty History and sign in with the EA account you play on.
  2. Go to Your violations.
  3. Select Review on the penalty and check the details.
  4. If you disagree with the penalty, choose Appeal and submit it.

The result arrives by email from noreply@ea.com. EA also sends notifications from ea@e.ea.com.

An appeal can end in one of three ways: EA upholds the penalty, reduces it (for example a shorter suspension) or removes it.

If Penalty History shows nothing, make sure you are signed in with the right account. The tool may also not show penalties from EA Forums or from some mobile games. EA’s general rules on locks and bans are summed up in EA Help.

Do not abuse support

False reports against other players and abuse of EA support are rule violations in their own right, so keep reports and appeals honest.

Javelin shows an error: that is not a ban

Not every anticheat message means a penalty. Often it is just a technical error:

  • EA Javelin anticheat encountered an error: run the EA app as administrator (even if you own the game on Steam or Epic), launch the game directly from the EA app and, if needed, reinstall EA Javelin anticheat.
  • Installer Error #41: affects Windows 11 Insider builds without a renewed certificate. Install the latest Insider update and restart your PC.
  • Installer Error #701: open Command Prompt as administrator and enter fsutil resource setautoreset true C:.
  • Manual reinstall: download the EA Javelin anticheat installer, select the game and choose Install. You can uninstall it via C:Program FilesEAACEAAntiCheat.Installer.exe. Without Javelin the game will not start.

Other errors and their fixes are listed in our overview of error fixes. What the free-to-play mode offers is covered in our REDSEC guide.
