Crimson Desert 2.04.08: Leviakan Finally Drops Its Scale and Mac Crashes Are Gone

Pearl Abyss has rolled out patch 2.04.08 for Crimson Desert on Steam and other platforms. It’s another round of fixes focused on performance, sailing, housing and a handful of annoying progression blockers – most notably a Mac crash that could stop your game dead after Leviakan.

Patch availability by platform

The rollout isn’t simultaneous everywhere. Here’s where things stand:

  • Steam (Mac): patch available now
  • PlayStation: patch available now
  • XBOX: patch coming later (in progress)
  • Epic Games Store: patch coming later (in progress)
  • Mac App Store: patch coming later (in progress)

Performance and crashes

  • Framerate drops in certain areas have been improved. The developers say they’ll keep working on framerate dips that show up in specific situations and content.
  • [PS5] Fixed a crash during certain cutscenes.
  • [Mac] Fixed a crash that happened after defeating Leviakan and made it impossible to continue the game.
  • Fixed a crash when approaching a castle or management facility with a large amount of flooring placed on it from a distance.

Leviakan now pays out

Defeating Leviakan now grants its scale as a reward, so the fight finally gives you something tangible on top of the kill. If you’re hunting down the rest of the game’s big targets, we’ve put together an overview of bosses and locations in a separate article.

Sailing and the sea

  • Fixed an issue where the ship’s wheel wouldn’t rotate while you were steering.
  • Fixed an issue where your character would revive beneath the ship when trying to revive on the Drunken Catfish.
  • Fixed an issue where loading a save near an anchorage on certain islands would spawn your ship on the island itself.
  • Fixed an issue where you couldn’t encounter the Phantom Ship in the Sea of Silence while riding a Phantom Ship.
  • Fixed an issue where the Golden Striped Marlin couldn’t be removed from the trade goods slots.
  • A help entry now pops up when you run into a school of fish.

  • Fixed an issue where your character couldn’t dive again in certain underwater caves.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera could occasionally stop responding during pioneering.

Housing and Free Construction

  • Fixed an issue where houses could disappear in certain situations in Free Construction mode.
  • Deleting a room in Free Construction mode now asks for confirmation first.
  • Fixed an issue where choosing ‘Undo Changes’ made objects installed indoors disappear from houses.
  • Fixed an issue where entering housing mode in certain situations teleported you to a house in a completely different location.

Combat, characters and the rest

  • Fixed an issue where equipment enhancement levels could reset in certain situations when a single save file was played across multiple accounts.
  • Fixed a quest where proposing to a witch wouldn’t complete even after the “Propose” interaction went through.
  • Fixed an issue where letting go while clinging made your character roll unintentionally.
  • Fixed endlessly spawning projectiles from the Karanda’s Spheres.
  • Fixed monsters with muskets aiming them in awkward directions.
