Looking for alternatives to GeForce NOW works differently depending on where you live, because half of the services people write about either don’t run in a given country or run there without support. Amazon Luna isn’t available in the Czech Republic at all, Shadow PC doesn’t list it among its supported countries, and Boosteroid is the only one with servers right in Prague.
That’s why availability is the first filter, not the feature list.

The models in the second column can’t be compared on price. For CZK 239, Game Pass Essential gets you over 50 games; for CZK 299, GeForce NOW Performance gets you none, but you can launch your own. Boosteroid: the only one with servers in Prague
If you play from the Czech Republic, this is the most important difference on the whole market. Boosteroid runs infrastructure in the data center of Czech Radiocommunications (CRA) and in the first quarter of 2026 added capacity in France, Poland and the Czech Republic. NVIDIA, by contrast, has no Czech or Slovak server, and its nearest ones are in Poland and Germany.
Boosteroid uses the same model as GeForce NOW: you launch games you own, linked from Steam and the Epic Games Store. Its catalog has over 2,000 titles, and the company cites 29 data centers and over 8 million users. It doesn’t limit session length and doesn’t list any monthly cap on hours played, which is a difference a daily player will notice compared to the hundred hours on GeForce NOW. Two things count against it: Boosteroid has neither a free version nor a trial period, and it supports fewer stores than NVIDIA. Where Amazon Luna works
Amazon keeps two country lists. The first contains countries with full Luna, meaning cloud gaming plus games to claim with Prime; the second only countries where you can claim games without streaming. Poland and Austria are on the first list, while the Czech Republic is missing from both.
An account from another country won’t help either. Amazon states the condition clearly: your Prime membership has to be from the country you live in. So if your country isn’t on the list, Luna is out of the picture, even if neighbors across the border have it. What it offers and where it runs is summed up in our overview of Amazon Luna.
Shadow PC: full Windows, limited country support
Shadow doesn’t fully belong in this lineup, because it sells neither a catalog nor supported titles. It rents out an entire Windows 11 computer where you install whatever you want, from Steam, Epic, Battle.net or elsewhere. Its hour caps are higher than GeForce NOW’s, 120 hours per month on the Lite plans and 210 on the rest, and prices start at €25.99 per month and go up to €74.99.
There are two catches. Shadow only supports a limited list of countries (the Czech Republic isn’t on it), and the company doesn’t hide it: you can subscribe from anywhere, but outside supported countries it doesn’t guarantee quality, and the machine’s IP address will be from the country you pick when ordering. The second catch applies everywhere: some games are blocked by the publisher’s anti-cheat and DRM, because they don’t allow running in a virtual machine. More in our piece on how Shadow PC works.
Xbox Cloud Gaming and PS Plus Premium: the catalog model
Both console services work the opposite way from GeForce NOW. You pay for a library, and streaming is a way to reach it without downloading.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is part of Game Pass Essential, Premium and Ultimate, but not PC Game Pass. It streams to consoles, Windows, handhelds, phones, Samsung and LG TVs, Fire TV and browsers, and from November 2026 it gets monthly caps of 5, 10 and 15 hours depending on the plan. In the Czech Republic, PS Plus Premium streams only to the PS5 console and to the PlayStation Portal remote player; Sony lists no other platform for the Czech market. On the other hand, it’s the only service in this overview that goes up to 4K with HDR at 60 Hz, and you can also stream games you’ve bought on the PlayStation Store. What you can play in the cloud for free
Free versions exist, but only two, and both come with conditions.
- GeForce NOW Free. An ad of up to two minutes before each gaming session, the longest queue for an available server, one-hour sessions and only Ready-to-Play games, of which there are over 2,000. Install-to-Play isn’t included, and the 100-hour monthly cap doesn’t apply to it. It’s enough to test whether the cloud works on your connection.
- Xbox without a subscription. After signing in with a Microsoft account at xbox.com/play, you can stream selected games for free, Fortnite for example. The rest of the catalog sits behind Game Pass.
Neither Boosteroid nor Shadow has a free version, and Boosteroid doesn’t offer a trial period either. Luna Standard is included in Prime at no extra cost, but only in the countries where Luna is available.
Before you pay: who actually owns the games
The difference between the models only shows up once your subscription ends. With GeForce NOW and Boosteroid you keep your games, because you own them on Steam or Epic and just launch them somewhere else. With Game Pass and PS Plus, access to the catalog ends along with the subscription. The harshest case is the add-on persistent storage for GeForce NOW: if you cancel, the content is deleted at the end of the billing period with no grace period and no way to recover it.
That leads to a rule. Buy games where they stay yours even without the cloud, and treat the cloud as a way to run them. NVIDIA itself warns that a game bought in a store through its service may not be streamable in the cloud, and that title availability varies by country because of age ratings.
Which one to pick
You own PC games and play a lot? Boosteroid, for its servers in Prague and because it doesn’t list any monthly cap. GeForce NOW offers more performance, but it stops you at a hundred hours a month.
You don’t own games and want something to play? Game Pass. Neither GeForce NOW nor Boosteroid gives you a library.
You have a PS5 and want to try before you buy? PS Plus Premium, for its streamed game trials and catalog of classics.
You really need a whole computer? Shadow PC, knowing that outside its supported countries nobody guarantees you quality.
