As of 10 September 2026 (version 3.0.5), Once Human is available in ten languages, and the list is essentially the same on PC, mobile, PS5 and Xbox, where the game launched in August 2026. English is supported everywhere (with full voice acting on PC), and so is German. Below you’ll find the exact list of languages per platform, what’s known about future localizations, a note on unofficial translation files, and a glossary of the key terms you’ll keep running into in the menus.
Which languages Once Human officially supports
Once Human’s Steam page lists the supported languages: English and Simplified Chinese with full voice acting, plus French, German, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin America) and Russian. That makes ten languages for text in total.
Consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
The console version went live on 25 August 2026, and the developers published an official FAQ for it on Steam. In the question about language support, it lists exactly this set: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. It’s practically the same list as on PC, just without the regional variants of Portuguese and Spanish spelled out.
| Platform | Supported languages | English and German? |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | English*, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese*, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese (BR), Spanish (LATAM), Russian | Yes |
| PS5 / PS5 Pro / Xbox Series X|S | English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese | Yes |
| Mobile (iOS/Android) | Shares your account and progress with the PC version through cross-platform linking; the language options match PC | Yes |
* languages with full voice acting; the rest have subtitles and menu text only.
Are more languages coming?
Neither the console launch FAQ nor the patch notes for versions 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 announce any new localization. When the game expanded to new platforms, the developers added languages for markets where it has a strong player base (Latin America, Brazil, Japan, Korea), and Central European languages aren’t among them so far. That’s not unusual: for large live-service titles from Asia, Central European languages tend to be among the last localizations to arrive, if they arrive at all. The studio hasn’t made any official promise of further languages.
Unofficial translation files
If you come across an unofficial fan translation to download, be careful. Once Human is an online game with regular updates (several hotfixes came out in August and September 2026 alone), so any change to the game files can stop working after the next patch, and in a game with anti-cheat protection it also puts your account at risk of a penalty. Before you install anything, check when the translation was last updated and whether it matches the current game version.
Key terms to know
Once Human is easy to play even if English isn’t your strongest language: most of the interface is visual (icons, maps, color-coded item rarity), and the key game terms repeat over and over. Once you get them, reading the menus comes naturally. Here’s a glossary of the terms you’ll see most often:
| Term | What it means in the game |
|---|---|
| Deviant | A mutated creature you capture and use as a combat companion or for support tasks (mining, putting out fires, carrying things). |
| Stardust | The paid premium currency for cosmetics and the battle pass; it doesn’t buy any gameplay advantage. |
| Territory | Your base on the map: you build it, equip it and defend it against enemies and other players. |
| Memetics | A system of passive abilities and character upgrades that you unlock and slot in to fit your build. |
| Cradle | A place in Eternaland where you permanently improve your character’s base stats across seasons. |
| Warband | Your group of players that you team up with to play a scenario together. |
| Hive | An infested nest full of enemies, a target for exploration or a group assault. |
| Scenario | A themed game mode on a specific server with its own story, map and rules; that’s also how the developers officially describe it. |
Once you’ve memorized these eight, you’ll be able to work out most quests and menu descriptions on your own, even if the rest of the sentence escapes you. It also helps that the game offers full keyboard and mouse support on consoles, so you can set up your controls the same way as on PC.
FAQ
Yes. As of 10 September 2026, both languages are supported on every platform: PC, PS5/Xbox and mobile. English also has full voice acting.
English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. Only English and Simplified Chinese have full voice acting; the other languages have subtitles and text.
Only in the details. The console version lists the languages without regional variants (for example, Portuguese instead of Portuguese – Brazil), but the options are the same on all platforms.
None of the official materials released so far say so. That doesn’t rule it out for the future, but no promise or date has been announced.
Be careful. If you find one, check when it was last updated against the current game version and expect it to stop working after a patch. Changing the game files in a game with anti-cheat can also put your account at risk.
Yes. The controls are very visual and the key terms (Deviant, Territory, Warband and others) come up constantly. Once you understand them, the rest of the interface falls into place.
