San Andreas is one of a handful of games released physically on all four Xbox generations, and the cheat codes stayed the same across all of them. So a sequence from the original 2004 version also works on Series X|S in the Definitive Edition. Below you’ll find 86 codes sorted by what they do.
How to enter a cheat on Xbox
You don’t need any menu or in-game phone. Just tap in the combination on your controller during gameplay, in quick succession. The game confirms it with a message in the corner of the screen.
Abbreviations in the tables: A, B, X, Y are the face buttons, LB and RB the bumpers, LT and RT the triggers. Directions mean the D-pad, not the left stick. That’s the most common reason a code “doesn’t work”.
The codes are identical for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The controller layout has barely changed across generations, so the sequences work the same everywhere.
Weapons and combat
Three weapon sets cover almost the game’s entire arsenal. Set 1 is the “starter pack”, and each one after it is a notch more brutal.

Money, health and CJ’s looks
The $250,000 code is the most used cheat in the whole game, and it tops up your health and armor as well. The other codes deal with the character’s stats.

Police and wanted stars
Stars can go up, down, or be locked. A locked wanted level doesn’t drop on its own, which comes in handy when you want a police chase that never ends.

Money: $250,000 with one combination
The $250,000 code also refills your health and armor, and you can enter it again and again. That makes it the game’s most used cheat and also the biggest difference from the newer games: GTA 5 has no such code.
Achievements and saving
Using cheats on Xbox blocks achievements from unlocking, which is a big deal for Gamerscore hunters. It applies to your whole save, not just the session.
- Before cheating, save the game to a separate slot. Saving over your main progress with active codes isn’t worth it.
- Riots, gang wars and armed pedestrians can only be turned off by restarting the game. They survive loading a save and can block a story mission.
- Achievements don’t come back on their own. You have to load a save from before your first code.
