Apex Legends has no Czech localisation, and nothing suggests it will get one. Steam lists fourteen languages for the game, Polish among them, but neither Czech nor Slovak is on the list — not even as subtitles. For a game won by coordinating in a trio that sounds worse than it is: Apex has a ping system that handles most communication without words. We go through what the missing Czech really means, which servers people from Czechia and Slovakia play on, and where to find teammates you actually understand.
There is no Czech in Apex Legends
The supported languages are English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (both Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese and Arabic. Fourteen entries, and not one of them Czech or Slovak.
That means the menus, legend ability descriptions, weapon stats and patch notes are all in English. You will pick up the in-game vocabulary in a few evenings anyway, because the same words keep coming back — knock, banner, beacon, ring, ult. It is worse for text where the detail matters: the exact wording of an ability or a patch change will not reach you in Czech from the game, only from community sources.
Do not use unofficial Czech translations for Apex. The game runs with a kernel-level anti-cheat, and tampering with game files is a risk not worth taking for a handful of translated buttons.
The European region and ping
Neither Czechia nor Slovakia has its own server. Apex divides the world into large regions, and from here you play on European data centres — which is good news for ping, because the nearest ones are a few hundred kilometres away.
You do not have to accept whichever data centre you are given, either. In the lobby you open the list of available servers and each one shows you ping and packet loss. It is worth a look before you start a longer session, because the nearest server is not always the fastest — the route to it depends on your internet provider.
Low ping matters more in Apex than in slower games. Fights happen at close range, there is a lot of dodging, and you will notice the difference between 25 and 80 ms in how often you „hit“ an opponent who has already vanished around a corner. Where to find Czech and Slovak teammates
The game will not find your countrymen for you. Matchmaking handles ping and level, not language, so in a random trio you are more likely to end up with a Pole or a German. A Czech and Slovak squad always comes together outside the game.
The fastest route is Discord. When you are looking for someone to play with, you can drop by the GamersTogether Discord — it is split up by individual games and has channels for finding teammates, so you post what you play and when you are usually online, and someone looking for the same thing gets back to you.
The second route is slower but works by itself: add people to your friend list when a match with them clicked. In Apex you spot them quickly — someone who pings, revives and does not run off alone across half the map fits into a squad, even if they happen to be from Austria. Within a month you will have enough names not to play with random people.
Why the ping system fixes even a squad that does not share a language
Apex Legends was the first game in the genre to introduce contextual pinging, and to this day it has the best-solved version of it in battle royale. One button marks a place, an item or an opponent, and the game works out what you are looking at — a ping on ammo means something different from a ping on an enemy. Teammates see the marker in the world and the message in the text chat.
In practice that means you can agree on everything that matters with a stranger without exchanging a word: where you are going, what each of you needs, where the enemy is, what is left in a death box. The system was designed precisely so that people who cannot or do not want to speak can play too — in 2021 EA released it free to other developers as part of an accessibility commitment.
For Czech players that leads to something quite liberating: broken English in voice chat is not a requirement. Someone who pings well is worth more to the team than someone describing a situation into the microphone that has already ended. How to follow the news in Czech
Respawn’s and EA’s official channels are in English: patch notes, the Designer’s Notes for a new season and announcements about platform support ending. Do not expect Czech there in the future either.
What you can do about it:
- Read Czech gaming sites for the patch notes. The substantial changes reach you in Czech with a small delay and without having to decipher damage adjustment tables.
- Follow the official channels for dates. A season start, the end of an event or the end of platform support is the kind of information you want from a primary source — even if it is in English.
- Discord communities get the news first. Changes are discussed on servers before anyone has a chance to write an article about them.
- Do not trust random videos titled „new Czech translation for Apex“. There is no official localisation and nothing suggests one is coming.
