The Aniimo team has published a new round of Dev Feedback, this time entirely focused on Operation: Egg Heist. The developers went through your discussions about Sanctum exploration, rescuing downed teammates, Chaos Mode difficulty and Aniimo Training, and they answer six of the most common questions. Below you’ll find what they said and what it means for you. If you’re not fully clear on how the mode works in the first place, we’ve broken it down in our guide to Operation: Egg Heist.
Q1: Are there more Aniimo now, and do they chase you longer?
The devs want to clear one thing up first: they haven’t made any numerical changes to things like Aniimo or Chest spawn probabilities. They are, however, taking a close look at the reported issues with spawning, disengaging from combat and enemy aggro, to see whether anything is behaving differently than intended. If it turns out to be a bug, they’ll fix it as quickly as they can.
They also explained how spawning in the Sanctum actually works:
- Not all Aniimo are present at the start of a run.
- More Aniimo can appear over time as your exploration progresses.
- Digging up rare Aniimo Eggs or Rare Treasure disturbs dormant Aniimo and draws them to you.
Any official change to the game will always be documented in the update announcements. The team also promises to give you an earlier heads-up about major upcoming updates so you know what’s coming well in advance. Every change so far is tracked in our Aniimo patch notes overview.
Q2: Rescuing teammates is frustrating. Is that changing?
Yes. Exploration and combat are a big part of Operation: Egg Heist, but the devs say having each other’s backs should matter just as much. They admit the current rescue experience isn’t where they want it to be, so they’re planning new mechanics that make helping a downed teammate easier.
On top of that, Pathfinders who go out of their way to help others should get recognition and rewards for it. The goal is for rescuing a teammate to feel like a rewarding part of squad play rather than just another chore. If you’re putting a squad together, our guide on co-op with friends covers how to get in together.
Q3: What if you miss some Collectibles before S1 ends?
You’ll get another shot. New gameplay is coming in the second half of S1 that gives you more reliable ways to get Collectibles. And even after the season wraps up, Collectibles from previous seasons will return through future events, so there will be plenty of chances to fill in the gaps.
Q4: Chaos Mode feels too punishing. What’s the plan?
Chaos Mode is meant to be the toughest challenge in squad-based Operation: Egg Heist, where greater risk comes with greater reward. But the devs don’t want higher difficulty to simply mean getting knocked down more often – they want you to have more tools to handle danger and adapt. Four things are planned:
1. More team composition options
More Aniimo suited to Operation: Egg Heist are coming, opening up new team compositions and strategies. Watch for new Aniimo in upcoming updates.
2. More ways to get Chips
The team will gradually introduce more Chip sources, including new sources for Heal Chips and Chips that improve the melee combat experience.
3. More ways to tackle the Sanctum
More interactive gameplay elements are planned across the Sanctum. By activating certain mechanisms or defeating specific Aniimo, you’ll be able to gain temporary abilities that help you adapt to different combat situations.
4. A more flexible approach to hard content
Going forward, high-difficulty content will tend to follow a format similar to the current Limited-Time Challenge, with reasonable rewards – and you’ll be free to decide whether you take part at all. We also covered Chaos Mode in our article on the 1.1 Windchaser’s Departure update.
Q5: How often will Operation: Egg Heist get new content?
The plan combines major seasonal updates with smaller ones every two weeks:
- First half of the season: updates focused primarily on PvE content.
- Second half of the season: the focus shifts to casual competitive modes.
- Every half-season: new Collectibles, plus new maps, Aniimo and gameplay.
- Every two weeks: smaller updates with new content, including new Aniimo and their drops, balance tweaks and other adjustments.
- New Alphas and mobs: enemies with their own unique mechanics, paired with exclusive challenge rewards.
The goal is for every stage of Operation: Egg Heist to feel fresh, with new things to collect and new challenges along the way.
Q6: Why doesn’t more ATK always mean more damage?
The devs believe an Aniimo’s role should reflect its combat specialty, not limit how you train it. Even an Aniimo that isn’t great at dealing damage should still be usable, so there’s a safeguard built into the damage calculation for non-DPS Aniimo: when their ATK is low, they get an ATK boost based on their level (or their BREAK stat, for BREAK Aniimo) at the moment damage is calculated. That way they can still break through enemy defenses instead of barely scratching them.
The downside is that while an Aniimo’s ATK sits below that guaranteed minimum, pouring more into ATK won’t immediately translate into higher damage – which is exactly why some of you saw your numbers stay flat after investing. The team acknowledges how confusing that is and plans to refine the damage calculation in Version 1.1 so that ATK increases have a more direct impact on damage, while keeping the overall combat experience largely unchanged. Details will come in an official announcement ahead of the update. Until then, our overview of builds and skills is a good place to start planning your investment.
What it means for you
Nothing changes in the game today – this is a communication post, not a patch. But it does tell you what’s coming: easier teammate rescues with rewards attached, more Chips and team comps for Chaos Mode, a second chance at missed Collectibles, and a cleaner relationship between ATK and damage in Version 1.1. The devs are inviting further questions for the next Dev Feedback. If you haven’t jumped in yet, Aniimo has its own page on Steam.
