Aniimo released on September 16, 2026 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The mobile version for Android and iOS followed a week later, on September 23, 2026. If you’ve come across September 15 or 22 somewhere, that’s just a time zone conversion – the dates above are the ones that apply in local time here.
- PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S released September 16, 2026
- Mobile (Android, iOS) followed on September 23, 2026
- The mismatched dates on Steam are a time zone conversion, not an error
- A global closed beta ran before launch, in July 2026

As of September 16, 2026, Aniimo became available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, on PlayStation 5 and on Xbox Series X|S – including through Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game is free-to-play, so there was nothing to buy to get started on any of these platforms. A week later, on September 23, 2026, the mobile version arrived on Android and iOS.

Why two different dates circulate
Steam’s listing for Aniimo showed – and in some places still shows – a release date of September 15, 2026, a day earlier than when the game actually launched in most players’ local time. Official communication from publisher FunPlus, and Steam’s own announcement post, both consistently said September 16, 2026.
The explanation is mundane: launch timing is often calculated against US Eastern Time. September 15 at 10 PM ET is the same moment as September 16 at 10 AM UTC+8 – exactly when the game actually went live according to the publisher. The same thing happened with the mobile version, where September 22 commonly circulated instead of September 23.
It isn’t a mistake by any one site, or an attempt to mislead anyone – the same moment in time can just get written down differently depending on which time zone you’re counting from. So if you ever run into two dates a day apart for a global launch, this is usually the reason. For readers here, the dates that apply are the ones at the top of this article – September 16 and 23, 2026.
What came before launch: betas and tests
September 16, 2026 wasn’t the first chance anyone had to play Aniimo. A global closed beta ran from July 9 to July 25, 2026, nearly two months before the full launch.
The launch date itself was announced publicly at gamescom, with the official line being that Aniimo confirmed its September 16 console and PC release date at the show. Gamescom is held in Cologne, which tracks with the fact that the game launched globally in one go rather than rolling out region by region.
The beta also included a showpiece mode that sources describe under the name Diamond Egg Heist – up to six teams of three players in a single arena. That’s purely beta content, though, not the live game. The official description of the launch build never mentions that name at all – instead, the live game has a mode called Egg Heist, which works differently and goes by a different name. If you come across a page describing Diamond Egg Heist as part of today’s game, that’s carrying over beta-era information.
Whether earlier tests happened too – a closed alpha or a regional beta, for instance – isn’t something we were able to confirm with two independent sources, so we’re not stating it here as fact.
Who made Aniimo
Aniimo was developed by Pawprint Studio, under publisher FunPlus. Sources describe the exact publishing structure slightly differently – names like Kingsglory Games and Pawprint Interactive Entertainment Pte. Ltd. show up too – but the safe, well-supported way to put it stays the same: developer Pawprint Studio, published under FunPlus. For the full rundown of what the game actually is, see what Aniimo is.
Gaming media covered the launch a bit more closely than a new free-to-play title usually gets – Aniimo sits in the free-to-play open-world creature-collecting action RPG genre, the same bracket as Palworld, and that comparison came up repeatedly around launch. Palworld still shows up among related searches for Aniimo to this day.
What’s changed since launch
The game has kept receiving updates since launch. What each patch actually changes is something we track separately in our patch notes, which we update after every patch individually. We’re deliberately not covering individual update content here – this article is a reference piece about the launch and the beta, not a living patch tracker, and specific version numbers here would go stale within months.
