Pearl Abyss has rolled out hotfix 2.03.01 for Crimson Desert on Steam and the other platforms. It’s a short list of three fixes, but every single one of them targets something that could genuinely stop you from playing – a broken minigame, a dead control binding and a crash.
Platform availability
The patch did not land everywhere at the same time. Here’s the state of the rollout as listed by the developers:
- PlayStation – patch available now
- XBOX – patch available now
- Epic Games Store – patch available now
- Steam (Mac) – patch available at a later time (in progress)
- Mac App Store – patch available at a later time (in progress)
So if you play on a Mac, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. The Mac version got a lot of attention in the recent 2.02.00 update, which brought cross-save support.
What 2.03.01 fixes
Lantern aiming on controllers
If you remapped the lantern-aim input on a controller, aiming the lantern stopped working with the newly assigned button. That’s fixed, so custom bindings now behave the way you set them up.
Duo minigame in Tommaso
The NPCs needed for Duo were not showing up in Tommaso at all, which made it impossible to play the Duo minigame there. They’re back, so the minigame is playable again. This was one of the problems we covered in our overview of known issues.
Crashes when talking to NPCs
In certain situations the game would crash while you were interacting with an NPC. That crash has been fixed too – the most important item on the list, since a crash can cost you unsaved progress.
What it means for you
This is a pure hotfix, so don’t expect new content or balance changes. If you were stuck on the Duo minigame or kept getting kicked to the desktop mid-conversation, just grab the update and carry on. Earlier fixes to quests and camp funds are described in our article on the 2.01.00 patch.
Where to go next
If you’re in the middle of your journey across Pywel, we’ve written separate guides on the bosses and locations as well as a rundown of 10 things not to do. All further patch notes land in our Crimson Desert news section.
FAQ
It fixes three things: lantern aiming after remapping the input on a controller, missing Duo NPCs in Tommaso, and a crash that happened when interacting with NPCs in certain situations.
Not yet. PlayStation, XBOX and the Epic Games Store have it now. The Steam (Mac) and Mac App Store versions are still in progress and will arrive later.
Yes. The NPCs required for Duo were not appearing in Tommaso, which blocked the minigame entirely. This patch fixes that.
No. Version 2.03.01 is a hotfix and contains only the three fixes listed above – no new content or balance tweaks are mentioned.
It was a bug: after customizing the lantern-aim input for controllers, aiming would not function with the newly assigned input. The patch restores it.
