Crimson Desert: Known Issues – Missing Duo NPC, Broken Interactions and FSR4 Problems

Pearl Abyss has published an updated list of known issues in Crimson Desert on Steam and on consoles. It is not a patch – nothing has been fixed yet – but it tells you exactly which bugs the team has already confirmed, so you do not have to waste an hour figuring out whether the problem is on your end. Here is the whole list in plain English, plus what it means for your playthrough.

Quests, NPCs and interactions

  • The Duo NPC does not appear in Tomaso, which makes it impossible to play the Duo minigame at all.
  • Interactions with NPCs, mounts and certain objects stop working in some situations. Pearl Abyss says you can temporarily fix this by restarting the game – so if a horse or a quest giver suddenly ignores you, reload before you start blaming your save.
  • Greymane faction quests cannot be progressed while you are playing as Damiane or Oongka. Switch characters if you want to push that questline forward.
  • NPCs required for quest progression cannot ride together on Legendary Animal mounts, which can block quests that expect you to carry someone along.
  • Fish caught while fishing in certain areas are unable to move – a visual oddity rather than a blocker, but it is on the list.

If you would rather spend your session on something that definitely works, we have a whole shelf of Crimson Desert guides, from boss fights to hidden puzzles.

Controls and key bindings

  • Lantern aiming breaks after rebinding. If you change the lantern-aim key in controller customization, aiming the lantern does not work with the newly assigned key.
  • Evasion keeps its old key. With the “Evasion Control” option set to “Hold”, the default Evasion key still works even after you have remapped Evasion to something else.

Both issues point the same way: for now, custom bindings for these two actions are unreliable, so the safest move is to stick with the defaults until a fix lands. Our list of things not to do covers a few more habits worth avoiding in Pywel.

Mac-specific issues

  • When using a keyboard and mouse at certain resolutions, the cursor position differs from the actual furniture placement point – so decorating can land items somewhere other than where you clicked.
  • The colorblind filter is not applied to the UI when “Colorblind Mode” is enabled.

The Mac version has been getting attention lately anyway; we covered the cross-save additions in the 2.02.00 patch notes.

PlayStation

On PlayStation, the screen may freeze if you type characters rapidly on the virtual keyboard while naming a pet or a horse. Pearl Abyss asks you to enter characters slowly, with brief pauses, when changing names, and apologizes for the inconvenience. Annoying, but at least there is a workaround that costs you nothing but patience.

Graphics: FSR4 and rain

With FSR4 upscaling enabled, rainy environments can break – rain disappears entirely, or the image becomes blurry or distorted. Until this is patched, switching to a different upscaling option is the obvious workaround if storms look wrong on your setup.

What this means for you

None of these are game-ending, but several can stall specific content: the Duo minigame is simply unavailable, Greymane faction quests are locked behind your character choice, and escort-style objectives on Legendary Animal mounts can get stuck. Keep restarting the game in your toolkit for interaction bugs, and treat key rebinding for lantern aiming and Evasion as temporarily unreliable.

FAQ

Is this a patch or just a list?

It is a list of known issues, not a patch. Pearl Abyss is confirming which bugs it is aware of; no fixes have been applied with this notice.

Why can’t I play the Duo minigame?

Because the Duo NPC does not appear in Tomaso. Until that is fixed, the minigame cannot be started at all.

My NPCs and mounts stopped reacting. What do I do?

This is a confirmed issue. Pearl Abyss says restarting the game temporarily resolves it.

Can I progress Greymane faction quests as Damiane or Oongka?

No. Those quests cannot be progressed while you play as Damiane or Oongka.

Why does rain look broken in my game?

If you are using FSR4 upscaling, rain can disappear or the screen can become blurry or distorted in rainy environments. It is a known issue with that upscaler.
