The community challenge that ran alongside BlizzCon 2026 is done. Diablo IV players were asked to kill a very special cow a lot of times, they made the deadline, and the reward is now sitting in the in-game shop for everyone – including players who never landed a single hit.
What The Divine Bovine actually was
During the BlizzCon festivities, Blizzard swapped out the usual Global World Bosses in Diablo IV for an enemy called Moophisto. The community had until September 14 to kill the warrior cow more than 300,000 times. The target was hit before the final day ran out, which unlocked the reward tied to the event.
Moomento Mori: how to get it
The prize is a Mount Trophy called Moomento Mori – essentially Moophisto’s severed head with broken horns, which you attach to the rear of your mount. Here’s what matters:
- It can be claimed from the in-game shop.
- Participation was not required – every player can claim it.
- It is tied to Season 15, so it will likely stop being available, or stop being free, once the season wraps up sometime in December.

Season of Hell’s Legacy
The cow event was only a slice of the Diablo news from BlizzCon 2026. Blizzard revealed the game’s new season of content, Season of Hell’s Legacy, built as a celebration of Diablo’s 30th Anniversary. It brings back fan-favorite NPC Deckard Cain as a guide, sends you hunting the Dark Wanderers from past games, and adds iconic unique items plus Soul Splinters that grant powerful abilities. Waking Nightmare activities let you face the Prime Evils inside special memories recreating nostalgic key moments in the game’s engine.

No more expansions, but the Amazon is coming
Blizzard confirmed that Diablo IV won’t be getting any further expansions. Seasonal releases and content continue, though, and the studio announced the return of the Amazon in the first half of 2027, inspired by the classic Javelin- and Bow-wielding class from Diablo 2. Four archetypes were confirmed: the sword-and-shield Champion, the Javelin-equipped Skirmisher, the long-distance Ranger, and a Commander who appears to call in phalanxes of Valkyries.
Diablo 5 is in development
For many, the biggest BlizzCon announcement was Diablo 5, which Blizzard says is targeting a launch sometime in 2029. The studio confirmed Diablo himself returns: the game is set in the future, after Diablo has conquered Sanctuary, forcing you to travel by caravan and build up allies, companions and merchants to fight back. Three classes were named – the Demon Hunter, the Monk, and a brand-new class called the Plague Knight. More communication is expected throughout 2027.
