The Jeweler is the vendor most players use the least. While the Blacksmith upgrades your gear, the Jeweler handles everything that gets socketed (gems, runes, sockets and jewelcrafting), and those services hide a surprising amount of power. Here’s what each one does and which ones are worth pouring materials into.

Unsocketing is free, so there’s no reason to leave a gem in the wrong item.
Where to find the Jeweler
Jewelers are in Kyovashad, Ked Bardu, Cerrigar, Zarbinzet, Gea Kul and the Kurast Bazaar, plus the settlement at the Tree of Whispers. Look for the gemstone icon on the map; it stands out from the other vendors.
What each gem gives
There are seven types of gems, and each gives a different stat depending on whether it sits in a weapon, armor or jewelry:

These values apply to the highest tier. Lower qualities give a fraction of that, and that gap is the whole point of crafting.
How upgrading really works
You can’t upgrade a gem directly. You salvage unwanted gems into Gem Fragments and then combine the fragments into a higher-quality gem. That turns every useless drop into something useful and makes gem crafting a side activity rather than a grind.
Because the scaling is percentage-based, the top tier isn’t just a minor improvement. As we explain in our crafting guide, a Royal Ruby gives more than six times as much maximum Life as a Crude one.
Sockets and runes
- Adding sockets is what lets a good item carry gems in the first place. Sort it out before you spend on Masterworking.
- Runes, which arrived with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, pair triggers with effects, and the Jeweler is where you craft and transmute them.
- Targeted Mythic Unique crafting goes through runecrafting and is the most valuable service the Jeweler offers.
Is a Jewelry Cache worth it?
Jewelcrafting crafts caches and converts fragment types. A cache is a gamble: you’re buying rolls for a legendary piece of jewelry, not a guaranteed upgrade. Treat it as a way to use surplus fragments once your gems are at the tier you want, not as your main strategy.
The quieter win is type conversion: it keeps you from ending up with hundreds of fragments of a kind you’ll never socket.
