Hogwarts Legacy runs on fairly modest PCs: the official minimum is a GeForce GTX 960 and 16 GB of RAM, while Ultra at 4K asks for an RTX 3090 Ti and 32 GB. This guide lists all four official spec tiers from Warner Bros. Games, how much storage the game needs, how it runs on Steam Deck and the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, and what the Nintendo Switch 2 version adds. Everything here is current as of 20 October 2026.
Hogwarts Legacy PC requirements: four tiers
Warner Bros. Games lists four configurations on the official Hogwarts Legacy site. Each one targets a different resolution and frame rate, so it is easy to see where your PC lands. Both the minimum and recommended specs assume 64-bit Windows 10 and DirectX 12.

A few things stand out. 16 GB of RAM covers both the minimum and the recommended tier, and only the Ultra tiers ask for 32 GB. The CPU stays the same between Ultra and Ultra 4K, so the graphics card is what makes the difference there. If you are aiming for 1080p at 60 fps, you want roughly the performance of a GeForce 1080 Ti or a Radeon RX 5700 XT.
Hogwarts Legacy install size
Plan for 85 GB of free space on PC, whichever tier you play on. For the minimum spec, WB says an SSD is preferred and a regular hard drive (HDD) is supported. From the recommended tier upwards, it expects the game to sit on an SSD. If you have it on an HDD and want higher settings, moving it to an SSD is worth doing.
The official sources we used do not list the install size on PS5, Xbox or the original Switch, so we leave those out. The Switch 2 figure is further down.
Hogwarts Legacy on Steam Deck
According to Steam, Hogwarts Legacy is rated Verified on Steam Deck. The one catch is that the first launch needs an internet connection, so start it for the first time at home on Wi-Fi rather than on a train.
The Steam version has full controller support (including DualShock and DualSense), Steam Cloud, HDR and Family Sharing. Thanks to Steam Cloud, you can pick up on the Deck where you left off on your desktop.
ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Play Anywhere
The 15 October 2025 patch added support for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds. In the Microsoft Store, the game is marked as Xbox Play Anywhere and “Optimised for handheld”. DLSS 4 and ray tracing
NVIDIA owners got DLSS 4 and Ray Reconstruction with the 30 January 2025 patch. RTX 50 series cards can also use Multi Frame Generation. The same patch split the ray tracing settings into more detailed options, so instead of a single on/off switch you can tune it to your hardware. For DLSS 5, keep an eye on our news.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version
Hogwarts Legacy arrived on Switch 2 on 5 June 2025 as the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. According to the WB press release, it was co-developed by Avalanche Software and Krome Studios, and compared with the original Switch it brings:
- better visuals with DLSS support and a higher resolution,
- smoother traversal and faster flying,
- Joy-Con 2 mouse controls,
- a one-way save transfer from Switch.
The download is 23.1 GB according to Nintendo UK.
