Hollow Knight: Silksong takes roughly 30 hours to reach the first credits. If you also finish Act 3 and collect most things, expect 40 to 45 hours, and around 60 hours for 100% completion. The game has three acts and more than one ending. These figures come from GamesRadar+, PCGamesN and IGN, whose writers played the game through, so treat them as a rough average. Accurate as of 20 October 2026.
How many hours Silksong takes
| How you play | Hours | Source |
|---|---|---|
| To the first credits (end of Act 2) | Roughly 30 | GamesRadar+ “roughly 30 hours”, PCGamesN 25–30 h (their reviewer 28 h) |
| Near-complete, including Act 3 | 40–45 | PCGamesN 40–45 h, IGN’s reviewer 44 h at 96% |
| 100% completion | Around 60 | GamesRadar+ “over 60”, PCGamesN “up to 60” |
The first row is where the outlets agree most closely. GamesRadar+ says roughly 30 hours, PCGamesN says 25 to 30, and their reviewer saw the credits after 28 hours. For a full 100% run the estimates differ only slightly: GamesRadar+ says over 60 hours, PCGamesN up to 60. That’s why we say “around 60”.
The middle row is for players who want more than the first credits but won’t chase every last percent. IGN’s reviewer spent 44 hours with the game and finished at 96%. For a sense of value: Silksong costs €19.50 on Steam (Czech storefront, 20 October 2026), and prices in other stores are in our guide to price and platforms.
How many acts Silksong has
Silksong has three acts, as both PCGamesN and IGN confirm. Without spoilers, it breaks down like this:

- Acts 1 and 2 make up the main path. At the end of Act 2 you face Grand Mother Silk, and the first credits roll after that fight. That’s where the roughly 30 hours end.
- Act 3 doesn’t open by itself. It unlocks only once you meet certain conditions, which include a wish (a side quest from characters you meet in the game) in Songclave.
If you stop at the credits, you won’t see Act 3. The 40 to 45 hour estimate in the table already includes it.
How many endings Silksong has
Silksong has more than one ending, as GamesRadar+ and IGN both report. We’re not going into details here to avoid spoilers.
What affects how long it takes
The hours in the table are averages. Your own time may differ, mostly because of three things.
Difficulty. Reviewers rate Silksong as harder than Hollow Knight. GamesRadar+ calls it “way harder”, PCGamesN “a step up from Hollow Knight”, and PC Gamer talks about “brutal difficulty”. How many attempts a single fight takes you varies from player to player. What the outlets say about the challenge and how Steel Soul mode works is in our article on Silksong’s difficulty.
Exploration. The game is full of hidden walls and secret rooms. Reviewers advise going back to older areas once you have new abilities, because you’ll find new paths, masks and rosaries (the in-game currency). If you search every corner, you’ll play for longer.
Knowing when to move on. When you get stuck, reviewers suggest heading somewhere else and coming back with better gear. IGN says Bilewater felt like a “cakewalk” when its reviewer came back later. For your first hours, our beginner’s guide helps.
Will Sea of Sorrow make the game longer?
According to its blog, Team Cherry is working on Sea of Sorrow, the first major expansion, free for all players. It brings new areas, bosses and tools, so there will be more hours to play. Nobody has said how many yet, and no release date had been announced as of 20 October 2026. What we know about the expansion is in our article on updates and the Sea of Sorrow expansion.
