DLC order by release
The simplest approach is to play the expansions in the order they were released: Brushes with Death, Legacy of the Forge and finally Mysteria Ecclesiae, which is the third and last story expansion. The game has two maps: the area around Trosky where you start, and Kuttenberg.
Brushes with Death
The first story DLC arrived on 15 May 2025. Henry takes on quests with a mysterious painter across both maps, and depending on your choices the story ends in one of three different endings. It also adds shield painting with more than 100 patterns and colour combinations. It is the cheapest of the three at €5.99 on Steam.

Legacy of the Forge
The second DLC launched on 9 September 2025. You restore a burned-down forge in Kuttenberg, where Henry’s father Martin learned his trade, become a master of the Kuttenberg blacksmiths’ guild and fill orders for the townsfolk. You also furnish the forge and the living quarters the way you like. The forging process and the guild exam are covered in our blacksmithing guide.

Mysteria Ecclesiae
The final expansion came out on 11 November 2025. Henry heads to Sedletz Monastery as an investigator while it struggles with an epidemic and a shortage of supplies. The monastery stays open to you after you finish. The DLC adds new clothing, a weapon, potions and books.

Mysteria Ecclesiae is started by Peter of Pisek. If you finished the main story on version 1.2 to 1.2.3, the DLC might not have become available to you. Hotfix 1.5.1 fixed that.
Expansion Pass or Royal Edition?
The Expansion Pass contains all three story DLCs and came with Shields of Seasons Passing and its four shield designs from day one. The older Gold Edition had the same content, but it is no longer sold on Steam.
On Steam the Expansion Pass costs €29.99. Buying the three story DLCs and Shields of Seasons Passing separately would come to €36.96 in total. So the pass is worth it if you want all three story expansions. If you only care about Legacy of the Forge and Mysteria Ecclesiae, buying those two costs €27.98.
If you don’t own the game yet, look at the Royal Edition. Released on 12 November 2025, it bundles the base game, all three story DLCs and all three smaller add-ons: Gallant Huntsman’s Kit, Shields of Seasons Passing and The Lion’s Crest. It costs €79.99 on Steam, while the base game alone is €59.99. That makes the Royal Edition cheaper than the base game plus the Expansion Pass.
Smaller DLCs and bonuses
The Lion’s Crest is a quest that rewards you with the armour and weapons of Knight Brunswick. It started out as a pre-order bonus and has been sold separately since 28 March 2025. The quest begins with the scribe in Troskowitz.
Gallant Huntsman’s Kit and Shields of Seasons Passing have been sold separately since 15 April 2025, each for €2.99 on Steam. Shields of Seasons Passing is also part of the Expansion Pass.
What was added for free
Not everything new costs money. Warhorse gave these to every owner of the game:
- Barber Mode (patch 1.2, 13 March 2025): barbers in Zhelejov and Kuttenberg.
- Hardcore Mode (patch 1.2.4, 15 April 2025): a tougher way to play, explained in our Hardcore Mode guide.
- Horse Racing (update 1.3, 15 May 2025): according to Warhorse, the last free DLC.
- The book Three Crusader Kings (patch 1.5.5, 20 April 2026): a collaboration with Crusader Kings III.
- A new jester quest (patch 1.5.6, 25 June 2026): at the Hangman’s Halter inn, and the same patch added Steam Controller support.
