Once Human released update 3.0.4 on 24 August 2026, and the very next day, 25 August, the console version went live on PS5 and Xbox. It is one of the biggest updates since launch: a complete rework of first person mode, a new outfit dyeing system, 35 achievements and the launch of the Meta Pass subscription. After release, though, came a series of hotfixes, and one of them openly admits that an earlier fix didn’t work. This article sums up the current state of every change, not just what was in the original announcement.
Console launch and account linking
The console version launched on 25 August at 11:00 PT. If you play on more than one platform, link your account and your PC and mobile data will sync to console as well. You’ll find details on each platform, requirements and crossplay in the platforms article.
First person got a complete rework
This is probably the most noticeable change in the whole update. The developers expanded first person mode with a lot of states and situations that used to work only in third person:
- Diving and underwater exploration can now be played entirely from a first person view, including the animations for using items underwater.
- Entering and exiting a high-altitude glide works fully in first person.
- Combat ultimates for most Deviants (for example Invincible Sun, Pyro Dino or Polar Jelly) can now be triggered in first person too, except for a few Deviants with special mechanics, such as Whalepup.
- Aero Leap and Slide work in first person in all four directions, so positioning in firefights is easier.
- Climbing ladders, riding ziplines and opening doors with keycards have full first person support, as does the Shield Generator use animation in the Raid Zone.
On top of that came a number of tweaks: smoother camera sway when moving with a melee weapon in first person, smoother transition animations between attacks, screen shake that now follows the intensity setting in Settings exactly (useful if first person makes you queasy), better animation timing when climbing complex terrain, and a new “First Person Model Offset” setting that moves the weapon model closer to or further from the edge of the screen.
Outfit dyeing: new logic and a lower price
The fashion set dyeing system got a major overhaul. You used to pay for every dyed section separately; now you pay for the whole component at once. Within a single outfit piece you can freely combine several colors and adjust details any time without paying again for each section. The cost of dyeing a whole set dropped by roughly 60% compared to before the update.
If you dyed something before 25 August, you get the price difference refunded automatically by mail within 3 business days, specifically 60% of what you spent on dyeing. An example straight from the developers: a player who spent 7,200 Crystgin and 2,250 Colorful Badge before the update got back 4,320 Crystgin and 1,350 Colorful Badge. Your existing look stays the same. For now only a limited range of sets can be dyed; more rarities and sets are set to be added gradually in the September update.
Achievements and the Meta Pass subscription
The new Achievement Trophy system introduced 35 achievements across Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Google Play. The system only started tracking and syncing progress with this update, so tasks you completed in the past don’t count retroactively.
The Meta Pass subscription is rolling out gradually on selected platforms, depending on which payment channel supports auto-renewal. You activate it directly in the Meta Pass interface by ticking “Auto-Subscribe” and confirming the payment channel. For your first subscription activation you get a one-time bonus of 80 Crystgin; if you subscribe again, you won’t get the bonus a second time. You can cancel the subscription any time through your payment channel’s settings without losing the benefit days you’ve already used up.
Alongside that, the limited Global Heat event is running: players across all platforms collect Heat Points together for rewards such as Starchrome or the Pyro Dino vehicle skin. There’s also a daily check-in with Azure Glint – Blade as the day-seven reward, a Surprise Egg for inviting friends, a reworked Gather Friends event and a gift pack for returning players.
Shop: new structure and limited items
The shop got a layout overhaul. The three-level categories are gone, replaced by simpler filters at the top, and there’s a new Personal Hub panel that puts your currencies, coupons, wishlist and subscriptions in one place. Some less popular items were removed from the shop, but according to the developers not permanently; they will come back through events and the Wish Bazaar.
New arrivals include the themed Lightforge Loot Crate Celestial Anthem (legendary fashion set Cosmic Hymn, legendary furniture formula Spear Knight, epic mech and deviation cosmetics), the new Battle Pass theme Final Prayer and the return of the seasonal cosmetic Frosty Glory from season S4. The Amethyst Reaper set also appeared for a limited time with a 55% console discount to mark the launch. Lightforge Legacy is permanently open from this update on, covering territory cosmetics that are at least a year old. The New Star Pack was simplified: for 60 Crystgin you pick 2 of 4 bonus rewards instead of the wider selection you had before.
Gamepad controls go back to their roots
After many player requests, the classic horizontal hotbar is back and now runs alongside the radial wheel controls, so you choose in Settings what suits you better. There’s also custom button mapping (Settings > Controller > Button Details > Custom Button Settings) and a fix for the long-standing conflict between reloading and interacting with a target: you now decide whether they share one button or each gets its own. On top of that, cursor sensitivity got fine-tuned with a snap toggle, holding a button scrolls smoothly through the Tab menu, and stick and trigger dead zones are more precise.
Balance and items
Sparkling Pumpkin Soup now correctly restores Energy. It used to work by mistake as a drink with a combat buff, which has been fixed. Robot Fish now loses 10% durability per minute, so it wears out quickly once you get in the water; it’s worth dismantling old ones for materials, and every player received 3 free Robot Fish as compensation.
The developers also announced changes to the QBJ97 – Fiery Trees and Silver Flowers weapon and the Ghost Link Set: the low chance to trigger Unstable Bomber and rockets, the demanding conditions of the Ghost Link Set 3-piece bonus and the excessive recoil of the QBJ97. The announcement doesn’t include the exact numbers, though. You’ll find the current state of weapons and recommended builds in the builds and weapons overview.
Vehicles and servers
Vehicles outside the Raid Zone can now be sent back using the “More” option on the vehicle, so you won’t leave them standing in the wild forever. You can also share driving permissions with friends and hive members in the settings. For the Prismverse’s Clash scenario, a server opens every Saturday at 8:00 server time, or several servers at once when demand is higher. Permanent servers got a monthly task that gives 5,000 Mod Dust for 100 Mitsuko’s Marks, and the condition of the Manibus monthly challenge changed: complete Prime War on Pro difficulty 5 times in total, once with a rating above 2,000. More about servers and playing with friends in the dedicated article.
Bug fixes and what the post-release hotfixes revealed
Update 3.0.4 itself fixed, among other things, the incorrectly displayed skin texture on the Fallen Abyss set, the wrong display of stockings on Radiant Serenade, passing through the Spring’s Lattice gate, the third person camera shifting after a character wakes up, collisions on the Lightning Rod facility in the Endless Dream scenario and the inability to list Chaos Mutagen in vending machines and Online Trading.
The 26 August hotfix brought one fairly significant finding: the Soul Summoner ultimate that releases Phantom Radiance Sparrow didn’t work as intended at all after the update went live. After the fix, every weapon hit now has a 15% chance to release Phantom Radiance Sparrow with a 0.5-second cooldown and correctly deals Weapon DMG (it also fixed the Sparrow itself and the arrow rain it summons dealing the wrong damage type). The same hotfix corrected the wrong description of Whalepup’s ability: it actually deals Status DMG and applies Status Vulnerability at the same time. You’ll find an overview of Deviants and their current strength in the Deviants article.
The 31 August hotfix (published on 2 September) fixed issues with dyeing hairstyles using an exclusive palette when switching between presets, an incorrectly shown “pending update” status on some appearance presets and teleporting into the combat area in the Arachsiam dungeon. On console, it fixed an issue with character movement after using the stick. The developers also admitted that their earlier attempt to fix abnormally dark character skin on console didn’t work and the problem persists; they are now treating it as top priority. They also explained that the T-pose when riding a bike isn’t a bug but an intentional animation for multiple riders at once. From this hotfix on, console fixes were merged into one shared channel with PC and mobile.
The 3 September hotfix then addressed missing VFX on the Ephemeral Dream – Butterfly’s Emissary skin, broken animations on the Behemoth mount, an incorrect swimming state in some underground scenes and, on console, the missing team join option in the Manibus (Novice) scenario interface as well as language switching during the opening tutorial.
Heads up: on 2 September this version was replaced by update 3.0.5, so the current state of the game is covered in the article on update 3.0.5.
