You do not pick Medic in WARDOGS as a class. You buy bandages and a resuscitator and you can revive. Medic is a progression tree that gradually unlocks better gear for you: the Field Resuscitator, IFAK, defibrillator and Medical Bag. In this article you will find how reviving works, what each item does and at which level it unlocks as of Season 1, which SMGs level the Medic tree fast and how revive bribes work.
How reviving works
When an enemy downs you, you stay on the ground. Then you have two options: wait for someone to revive you, or give up and respawn. Giving up has a catch, though. If you die and nobody revives you, you lose your whole loadout, meaning everything you bought for that life, and you have to buy it again.
There are three ways to revive a teammate:
- Bare hands: it works without any gear, but the default revive is slow.
- A resuscitator: the revive is faster. You get one free unit per life.
- A defibrillator: the revive is significantly faster than with a resuscitator.
The game pays you for reviving and healing teammates and gives you XP toward the Medic tree. Every revive also saves your teammate the gear they would otherwise lose. What else the game pays for is covered in the article about money in WARDOGS.
Watch out for voice chat. The game has proximity chat, which nearby enemies can hear too. If you shout to the whole neighborhood that a medic is coming for you, you can send them straight into a trap.
Medic gear and how to unlock it
The unlock levels are valid as of 15 September 2026 for Season 1. The developers change the unlock order every season.
| Item | Unlock | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Bandage | from the start | heals you and your teammates |
| Emergency Resuscitator | from the start, free | faster revive, only 1 unit per life |
| Field Resuscitator | Medic 2 | faster revive, no limit on units |
| M18 Smoke Grenade: White | Medic 5 | white cover smoke |
| Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) | Medic 9 | heals you to full health |
| Defibrillator | Medic 11 | significantly faster revive, needs a battery |
| Medical Bag | Medic 24 | heals over time and speeds up reviving |
At Medic 14 the tree also unlocks the Adrenaline Pen. The Emergency Resuscitator is free, the defibrillator costs $1,600 per life. The other prices change between seasons and what counts is what the in-game vendor shows you.
Resuscitators
The Emergency Resuscitator is free, but you only get one unit per life. Always take it, it costs you nothing. As soon as you reach Medic 2, unlock the Field Resuscitator. It also revives faster, you just have to pay for it and you can carry as many as you want. For a medic who wants to revive more than once per life, it is the first important purchase.
Defibrillator
The defibrillator unlocks at Medic 11 and costs $1,600 per life. It revives a teammate much faster than a resuscitator. It does need a battery, though, which you have to buy separately. Anyone can buy it once it is unlocked, no class restricts it.
Bandages and IFAK
Bandages heal you and your teammates, and healing teammates pays. That is why a medic carries more of them than anyone else. You can also pick up more bandages from the bodies of fallen enemies. The IFAK from Medic 9 heals you to full health in one go.
Medical Bag
The Medical Bag unlocks at Medic 24. It heals over time and speeds up reviving. You lose it on death just like the rest of your gear, so buy it only once you can afford that loss.
Smoke grenades
The white smoke from Medic 5 creates a cover screen.
SMGs and faster Medic leveling
You do not collect XP for the Medic tree only by reviving and healing. Kills and assists with submachine guns (SMGs) also feed XP into Medic. That makes the SMG the natural medic weapon: you can defend yourself and the tree keeps growing during a firefight. The prices and levels in the table are valid as of 15 September 2026, Season 1.
| SMG | Price per life | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| AMP-9 | $900 | no unlock needed |
| PP-19 Vityaz | $1,200 | Medic 4 · $25,000 |
| MP5 | $1,500 | Medic 15 · $75,000 |
| Super-45 | $2,600 | Medic 35 · $150,000 |
SMGs belong up close and lose out as the distance grows. The Super-45 is most often recommended as the best close-quarters weapon. For the PP-19 you unlock a 50-round drum magazine at Medic 29. You will find the other weapons in the overview of weapons and their prices.
Bribes and tips for a revive
While you are down and waiting for a revive, you can post a bribe for whoever picks you up. Players can also send each other tips. For a medic that means income on top of what the game pays. Controls and game settings are summed up in the article about settings and controls.
How to play medic so it pays off
- Start cheap: a cheap weapon, bandages and the free Emergency Resuscitator. Do not buy expensive gear you cannot afford to lose.
- Unlock in the recommended order: Field Resuscitator (Medic 2), white smoke (5), IFAK (9), defibrillator (11) and Medical Bag (24).
- Stay in the zone: points go to the team with the most players in the Control Zone, and in the Hot Zone the game pays double money. How the zones work is covered in the article about the Control Zone and Hot Zone.
- Play with a squad: a squad has its own voice channel that enemies cannot hear, and you see your teammates on the minimap. More in the article about playing with friends.
- Loot: take bandages and better gear from fallen enemies.
