San Andreas has more cheats than any other Grand Theft Auto game, and the Definitive Edition on PS5 kept the vast majority of them. You enter the codes straight on the controller while playing, so you don’t need an in-game phone like in GTA 5. Below you’ll find 86 of them, sorted by what they do, from weapons and the jetpack all the way to the weather.
How to enter a cheat on PS5
Tap in the combination on your DualSense during gameplay, outside of any menu, in quick succession. The game confirms it with a short message in the corner of the screen; if nothing shows up, the sequence was too slow or wrong, and you just need to try again.
The symbols in the tables match the controller buttons: ✕ cross, 〇 circle, ☐ square, △ triangle. The directions (Up, Down, Left, Right) are the D-pad arrows, not the left stick. That’s the most common reason a code doesn’t work.
On PS4 the exact same combinations apply. The only difference between the generations is performance and resolution, not the cheats.
Weapons and combat
Three weapon sets cover almost the game’s entire arsenal. Set 1 is the “starter pack”, and each one after it is a notch more brutal.

Money, health and CJ’s looks
The $250,000 code is the most used cheat in the whole game, and it tops up your health and armor as well. The other codes deal with the character’s stats.

Stars can go up, down, or be locked. A locked wanted level doesn’t drop on its own, which comes in handy when you want a police chase that never ends.

The money cheat works here
Unlike GTA 5, where there’s no money code at all, San Andreas gives you $250,000 with a single combination, and it refills your health and armor on top of that. You can use the code repeatedly, so in practice it’s an unlimited source of cash.
That’s exactly why it’s the most used cheat in the whole game. If you just want to push through the story quickly without grinding money for weapons and properties, this is the whole answer.
What cheats break
Using codes has three consequences, and all three are irreversible within your current save:
- Trophies stop unlocking. As soon as you use any cheat in a session, trophy hunting is over. Loading an older save fixes it; restarting the game on its own doesn’t.
- Some cheats can only be turned off with a restart. Riots, gang wars or armed pedestrians stay active even after saving and can make it impossible to finish a story mission.
- Your save carries that state with it. Save to a separate slot, not over your main progress.
The rule is simple: one save for normal play, another for going wild. It takes ten seconds and keeps your entire playthrough safe.
FAQ
Yes. The jetpack is spawned with Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right and is available from the start of the game, with no conditions whatsoever. It’s one of the most searched codes in the whole series.
Yes, both consoles use identical sequences. The Definitive Edition came out on both generations with the same list of cheats, so this guide also applies to the older console.
Most of them do. Rockstar carried the vast majority of the original 2004 list over to the remaster, including the jetpack, the Hydra and the Rhino tank. A few codes tied to the old physics were changed, though.
Not within the same save. The save is permanently flagged as “with cheats”. The only way back is to load a save made before you first used a code.
It’s not recommended. Codes that change how pedestrians and gangs behave stay active in the world even after loading, and in the worst case they make some missions impossible to finish.
