Dune Awakening: Chapter 2 walkthrough

Dune Awakening: Chapter 2 walkthrough

Chapter 2 of Dune: Awakening has seven quests in a fixed order, from CALLED TO A COUNT to Noctua’s Return, and it ends by revealing your own origins. Two of those quests are puzzles people get stuck on. You’ll find both solutions right at the top, and the walkthrough continues below them.

Solutions to both puzzles

All seven quests in order

  1. CALLED TO A COUNT
  2. Proces-Verbal
  3. Touch of Evil
  4. From The Ashes
  5. The Janusian Faithful
  6. The Bloodline
  7. Noctua’s Return

The order is enforced. The game won’t open the next quest until you finish the previous one, so you can’t skip straight to the part you’re interested in. You can see where the game is heading after Chapter 2 on the Public Test Client: patch 1.5.1.0 adds single-player and a new take on characters ahead of the console release.

Quests 1–3: the political groundwork

CALLED TO A COUNT summons you to an audience where you learn what threatens stability on Arrakis, receive instructions and get access to sensitive information.

Proces-Verbal is an investigation quest: you collect evidence, testimonies and official documents. It’s tedious, but those documents come in handy later.

Touch of Evil exposes corruption at the highest levels and confronts you with several moral choices. You also gain informants here that you’ll rely on for the rest of the chapter.

Quest 4: From The Ashes and the symbol code

The first real roadblock. The password isn’t hidden in the environment. It’s in your inventory, on the Old Carthag Schematics item, and it reads 10194.

  1. Open your inventory and inspect the Old Carthag Schematics.
  2. Read the code 10194.
  3. Convert each digit into a symbol using the puzzle interface.
  4. Enter the symbol sequence into the mechanism.

Once it opens, you’ll find the body of Phaedre Vyev. Search the body, take what’s on it and go back to Torso for instructions. That moves you on to The Janusian Faithful.

Quest 5: The Janusian Faithful

A calmer stretch that turns to the religious side of Arrakis. You meet believers who hold information your mission needs, and the faction trust you build here pays off later. Don’t skip the dialogue, as several details come back right in the next quest.

Quest 6: The Bloodline, the chapter’s hardest puzzle

Before you touch the stones, stop by the library in the room just before the puzzle and pick up the cards for Jessica. Going in without them is a classic mistake.

You solve the stone mechanism by counting the holes, not by reading the symbols:

OrderSymbolNumber of holes in the stone
1water4
2clay7
3mother2
4vessel3

Miscounting the holes is by far the most common reason the puzzle fails.

After you activate all four stones, a hologram appears with four questions. The pattern is fixed: first option, second option, first, first. Take your time. Wrong answers come from rushing, not from difficulty.

Once you’ve handled both, you reach Ariste Atreides in the Archives. This is the climax of the whole chapter: your true origins, your link to House Atreides and the reason you’re on Arrakis at all.

Quest 7: Noctua’s Return

The finale takes you back to familiar surroundings. After meeting Ariste, return to Arrakeen, travel to Hagga Basin and find Zantara’s bat. Listen to the recording it carries, and Chapter 2 officially ends with a message pointing to the next chapter, Raiders of the Broken Lands. Before you dive into the next chapter, take a look at the fan-made Dune: Awakening merch at the GamersTogether shop – t-shirts, posters and mugs.

What to prepare before the chapter

Chapter 2 is more about progression and puzzles than about combat. It still pays to come prepared:

  • Inventory space. During the chapter you collect documents, cards and items from bodies. If you run out of space halfway through From The Ashes, you’ll be backtracking.
  • A notepad or screenshots. Write down the code 10194 and the stone order, because the game won’t remind you a second time.
  • A save before the puzzles. Mistakes only cost you time, but time counts too.
  • An uninterrupted session. The chapter is linear, and the two puzzles in the middle are awkward to pause.

Mistakes that cost the most time

  • Overlooking the Old Carthag Schematics in your inventory and searching the environment for the code.
  • Miscounting the holes in the stones. Count twice, activate once.
  • Answering the hologram quickly instead of correctly.
  • Walking past the library before The Bloodline and leaving the cards for Jessica behind.
  • Skipping dialogue and then not knowing what the next objective refers to.

FAQ

Can I complete the Chapter 2 quests in a different order?

No. The chapter is strictly linear, and the next quest unlocks only after you finish the previous one.

What is the code from the Old Carthag Schematics?

Always 10194. If you don’t remember it, open your inventory and inspect the item again; it doesn’t change between playthroughs.

Are the hologram answers always the same?

Yes. The pattern is 1-2-1-1, meaning first option, second option, first and first.

What happens if I mess up the stone puzzle?

It simply resets and you can try again. There’s no penalty for repeated attempts, and the solution doesn’t change.

Can I go back to completed quests?

Some locations stay accessible, but story moments don’t repeat. Whatever you want to see, see it the first time.

Information verified as of 7 September 2026. The puzzle solutions are fixed values that patches don’t change, but quest names and rewards may still be tweaked.
